Browns Interviewing James “Shack” Harris

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns | COMMENTS: None Yet

While the Browns wait to talk more with current Ravens’ director of pro personnel George Kokinis, they continue to interview candidates for the vacant general manager position – the man being interviewed this time is James “Shack” Harris.  Harris was last seen as the vice president of player personnel for the Jaguars, but he resigned last month after heavily stinking up the Jacksonville air by signing stiffs like WR Joey Porter and CB Drayton Florence to free agent contracts that added up to be about $23 million in guaranteed money.  Needless to say, the dude’s not getting the job. Also, [...]

Browns Officially Name Mangini’s Assistants

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Browns made it official today, as they named the three main men who are to assist head coach Eric Mangini – those men being offensive coordinator Brian Saboll, defensive coordinator Rob Ryan, and special teams coordinator Brad Seely.  There is still not a lot of news about the Browns and their quest to find a new GM, mainly because the Ravens and George Kokinis are still in the playoffs. I have to say that I like this nucleus of coaching, as all the men worked together on New England’s staff from 2000 to 2003.  I’ve begun to warm up [...]

Wednesday Morning Linkfest

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns | COMMENTS: None Yet

Another Wednesday, another link party.  Enjoy, boys and girls: There is a laundry list of things to-do for new head coach Eric Mangini.  Problem is, there’s no GM yet and not much time to get to work. Tony Grossi ranks the 2008 Browns from 1-49.  It’s a well put-together list, but there’s only one problem:  K Phil Dawson and LONG SNAPPER Ryan Pontbriand are in the top five!  Ah yes, when you’ve got players of those positions topping your list, you’ll be playoff-bound for years to come. Will the Ravens’ run through the playoffs actually hurt the Browns? New coordinators [...]

Who’s Left to Be the Next GM?

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns | COMMENTS: None Yet

As many of you already know, former Patriots vice president of player personnel Scott Pioli has taken over as the new Kansas City Chiefs GM today.  It’s not like Mr. Pioli was even a canidate here anymore, especially after the team hired Eric Mangini, who was supposedly not a top choice of Pioli’s. So where does this leave the Browns in terms of their GM search?  Well that’s the million dollar question, and depending on who you ask, that answer varies.  So here’s a quick recap of what’s up with the search: The team will interview George Kokinis next week [...]

LeBron James, Two-Sport Athlete? King James Suits Up for the Browns

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

Being that we are all Cleveland fans here, it is likely that we are all fans of the other Cleveland teams as well, as we should be.  Therefore, we probably know a little bit about LeBron James’ “Big Announcement” that will be taking place on 1-18-09.  Could it be that he is about to suit up for the Browns, perhaps as a tight end, or as the most bulldozing wide receiver you’ll ever see?  Obviously not, but it is still great to imagine that possibility and these pictures are still cool to check out (although I can honestly say I [...]

The Nightmare Has Become a Reality – Steelers vs. Ravens for the AFC Crown

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns | COMMENTS: None Yet

I, like many Browns fans, have this dreaded nightmare every season (the Browns season is usually just a nightmare in itself) – that both the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens would not only both make the playoffs, but be the last two AFC teams standing.  Which makes the AFC Championship game virtually unwatchable, as it is a guarantee now that one of the two teams that I detest with the most vigor will be going to the Super Bowl.  Under normal circumstances, I am bothered by Pittsburgh’s or Baltimore’s lone occasional trips to the this game and the Super [...]

Chudzinski, 49ers Having Delightful Conversations

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns | COMMENTS: None Yet

At this time last year, everyone was drooling over Rob Chudzinski . He was the young, up-and-coming offensive coordinator for the Browns, directing an offense that went on to score 402 points and finish the year as the eighth-best unit in the league.  Now, he is currently out of a job.  After the Browns failed to score an offensive touchdown in six straight games (reprehensible no matter who the quarterback is) and dropped to 31st this season, Chud is out interviewing, specifically with the San Francisco 49ers.  There is pretty much no way Chudzinski is going to be retained by [...]

All-Pro Selections in a Dismal Season

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns | COMMENTS: None Yet

Well according to SI.com writer Peter King (an OU, Ohio that is, Alum.  Sorry for the shame-less plug) KR Joshua Cribbs was considered an All-Pro selection.  He even goes as far as saying that fans should forget the stats of this season, because Cribbs is a better returner than Devin Hester of the Bears. And in the AP All-Pro team, 2nd year LT Joe Thomas, was voted to the 2nd team All-Pro Offensive  Team this season.  Thomas, as many of you know, will be attending his second Pro Bowl game this coming February. Congrats to both, as both are very [...]
