The NFL released its preseason schedules today and while the exact dates are yet to be determined, here is a list of who the Browns will be playing and a rough idea of when: @ Green Bay: the week of August 13-17 Detroit: the week of August 20-24 Tennessee: August 27-31 @ Chicago: September 3-4 Hurray, preseason!
While he has been working out with the Browns in Cleveland, WR Donte Stallworth has also been waiting to hear about his toxicology report in relation to his possible DUI manslaughter charge. Talk about something hanging over your head. If the report comes back next week, that would make it three weeks for Stallworth to have been thinking about what happened, which is enough time to make a person go crazy in anticipation. Of course, one might argue he deserves it. Depending on the results of the report, Stallworth could potentially turn himself in to Miami Beach police, despite the [...]
Here at FanSided, we have taken the idea of March Madness to a new level. We are hosting our own little tournament – the Worst Man Drafted (WMD) Tournament. Here’s the rundown, courtesy of NFL Mocks: What is the Worst Man Drafted (WMD) Tournament? To celebrate March Madness, the FanSided.com sports network compiled a field of the 64 worst NFL Draft busts of all time. A blogger from each NFL team nominated their team’s worst two draft picks of all time. 32 teams x 2 = 64. After we had our field of 64, the staff here at NFL Mocks [...]
Browns Rumors Galore: Brett Favre?!
The rumors and speculation around the Browns have been flying at full speed in the last few weeks. Trade rumors for Derek Anderson, Brady Quinn, Shaun Rogers, Braylon Edwards, etc. have been abundant as teams like the Giants, Eagles, and others have been linked in apparent deals that would send pretty much every good player out of Cleveland for garbage. For some reason (the slow news that permeates this time of the NFL year is probably a good one), Tony Grossi feels the need to speculate on a whole bunch of nothing. Grossi writes that QB Brett Favre and head [...]
Now, I do not consider myself very educated with the legal system, especially that of Florida’s. However, I do know that WR Donte’ Stallworth is, in a word, effed. This, of course, leaves the Browns receiving corps extremely screwed as well, as the team has recently parted ways with TE Kellen Winslow and WR Joe Jurevicius in the past few weeks. One can assume that Stallworth is just about done with the Browns as well. What was once a strong point for the team (oh, about a year ago) has now become one of the weakest units in the league. [...]
Miami Station Reports: Stallworth Over Legal Limit
WSVN-Fox 7 in Miami, Florida have reported that WR Donte’ Stallworth was over the legal limt of .08. The station claims that Stallworth’s blood alcohol level registered at .12. WSVN’s reports have not been confirmed or even released by the Miami Beach police at this point in time. However if these claims hold true Stallworth could face DUI manslaughter charges which carry with them a 15-year sentence. Stallworth released an offical apology through the club yesterday.
Browns Ink Former Divisional Foe
Late last night the Browns and CB Corey Ivy came to agreement on a one year deal. Ivy has spent the past three years in Baltimore, playing in every game last season and starting in 13 of 16 in 2007. Ivy has also spent time with Tampa Bay, St. Louis, and New England over his nine year career.
Browns Add Two To Offense
The past two days have seen the Browns add two more offensive players. Yesterday the team signed 10-year vet OL John St. Clair, to a three year $9,000,000 deal. St. Clair started all 16 games last season at right tackle for Chicago Bears, and has also started at guard at various times over the past nine years. The St. Clair signing comes just four days after the club signed OL Floyd “Pork Chop” Womack, from the Seatle Seahawks. Today the club announced that they have signed RB Noah Herron, to replace the recently departed Jason Wright. Additionally the Browns added [...]
RB Jason Wright Signs With Cardinals
The Browns lost free agent running back Jason Wright to the Arizona Cardinals yesterday. He signed a two-year contract and will replace the void left by J.J. Arrington. To be honest…it doesn’t matter. He was extremely underutilized in the offense and I have always been a bigger Jerome Harrison fan, who is even more underutilized. However, Wright and Harrison do represent the growing trend on NFL teams to feature two backs with varying speeds and abilities – “Smash and Dash,” if you will. Harrison could be the Dash, but apparently, no one seems to care. There has been plenty of [...]
2009 NFL Mock Draft 2.0 – Updated March 15
# Team Pick 1 Detroit Lions (0-16) Matt Stafford, QB – Georgia – They need so much, and though this is probably the wrong pick to make. That said, it makes it all that more likely that this will be their pick. 2 St. Louis Rams (2-14) Jason Smith, OT – Baylor – The releasing of Orlando Pace leaves a big hole to be filled (pun intended). 3 Kansas City Chiefs (2-14) Aaron Curry, OLB – Wake Forest – The Chiefs go with the “safe” pick to improve a non-existent D. 4 Seattle Seahawks (4-12) Brian Orakpo, DE – Texas [...]
