Worst Man Drafted Tournament: Who are the Worst Draft Picks of All-Time?

Here at FanSided, we have taken the idea of March Madness to a new level.  We are hosting our own little tournament – the Worst Man Drafted (WMD) Tournament.  Here’s the rundown, courtesy of NFL Mocks:

What is the Worst Man Drafted (WMD) Tournament? To celebrate March Madness, the FanSided.com sports network compiled a field of the 64 worst NFL Draft busts of all time. A blogger from each NFL team nominated their team’s worst two draft picks of all time. 32 teams x 2 = 64. After we had our field of 64, the staff here at NFL Mocks did some serious NCAA-style research to seed the field. (hat tip: Mike from Bear Goggles On on the concept)

The two picks representing the Browns are two of the team’s most glorious draft busts of all-time: QB Tim Couch and DE Courtney Brown.  The best part of all this is that the winners (although no one is really a winner in all of this) are chosen through a voting process.  The first round is going on now, and the second round will begin on Monday.  We all know that both Couch and Brown deserve to be considered as the worst draft pick EVER and, quite frankly, it is a slap in the face that Couch is only a 4-seed and Brown is a 7-seed.  Surely the Browns have chosen bigger busts than that in comparison to the rest of the league.  Let’s show everyone just how demoralizing the Browns’ draft history has been!

Here’s where you can vote:

Tim Couch (North region): http://nflmocks.com/2009/03/26/worst-man-drafted-tournament-north-region-round-one/

Courtney Brown (East region): http://nflmocks.com/2009/03/26/worst-man-drafted-tournament-east-region-round-one/

Let’s go Browns!

C’mon folks – support “the Sofa”. This guy cannot be beat.  He was pegged as the best QB since John Elway.  It did not turn out quite that way.  In 5 seasons, he threw more ITs than TDs.  He suffered more injuries than Seabiscuit.  He lost the starting position to (are you ready for this) Kelly Holcomb.  He was run out of Green Bay by Packers fans who booed so loud it felt warm at Lambeau in December.  Then he filed a grievance with the Union after being cut by the Packers.  Then he begged for a chance with the Bears and the Bengals to no avail.  Same for the Titans, Dolphins, Steelers, Texans and probably the Portland Penguins.  In 2007, Sofa called every team in the league for a job – the Jaguars took the bait and signed him for two years but then cut him as being unqualified for the 3rd string position.  He also took illegal roids and was suspended by the league.  A truly wonderful #1 draft pick for our Browns in 1999.  He has this competition hands-down!

The best teams do there home work. They draft football players and not stop watches. They draft 3rd down offence and defence changers. Every game on sunday depends on 3rd down success on both sides of the ball. Also, the turnover ratio has alot to do with wins and losses. Draft players whom change the success of third downs and you will make the playoffs. (10-6)-12-4 or 4-12 to 6-10. It all depends on 3rd down.

So what if Tim Couch was a bit of a bust (but come on, the guy had five guys that worked for Wendys on the O-line and a running back they got out of Des Planns Junior High) and maybe Courtney Brown just couldn’t stand to be seperated from Joe Paterno (JOOOE PAAAA), but I think we might be forgetting several big busts! Steve Powell (95) Tommy Vardell (92 – I guess the” touchdown” nickname didn’t graduate!), Antonio Langham(93), William Green (2002), Gerald Warren (2001), Jeff Faine (2003). In fact folks, lets face it. Winslow, Edwards, and Thomas are the only guys in the past 15 years of Browns drafting that have panned out in any way.. and that ain’t saying much!

Mike Junkin should be on the list. Remember: “He’s like a mad dog in a meat market…”

I was curious if anyone has tried this Sports Handicapping Service? I saw his video on Youtube and it turns out the service is sold through clickbank which means it comes with a 60 day money back guarantee. Was wondering what peoples thoughts were.
