Another week, another horrendous loss. So goes the season, and plenty of others before it, for the Cleveland Browns. Every week there seems to be something new to scratch one’s head at in complete disbelief. This time, it is the misuse of the the Wildcat formation. Eric Mangini has said that the Browns probably could have used the Wildcat more in Sunday’s 31-3 loss to the Green Bay Packers. The Browns only used it once on Sunday for a grand total of 1 yard. Even Josh Cribbs was surprised at how the coaching staff apparently just forgot the Wildcat existed. [...]

Shaun Rogers Set to Break-Out This Sunday
No, not with another flare up of the flu. This could be the game that Rogers plays to his own very high expectations. Shaun recently indicated to the media that he was disappointed with his own play thus far this season. For anyone else on the defensive front, blocking kicks and getting to or near the opposing QB while double teamed on nearly every down would be more than satisfactory, but Rogers wants more. This could be the week, if Shaun’s flu symptoms have subsided (he participated in the Team’s practice yesterday). Why? Because the Packers are very vulnerable up [...]
Turns out, if it wasn’t for that pesky flu bug, the Browns would be Super Bowl contenders. Instead, they had twelve – twelve! – players out of practice this week because of the flu. And now two players have Influenza A, which is related to the H1N1 virus. In all seriousness, let’s hope all the sick players end up feeling better as soon as possible. I honestly would not want to see any of them come down with a serious illness. Because then they couldn’t play on the team during their championship run.
And You Thought It Couldn’t Get Any Worse, Part III…Browns Lose LB D’Qwell Jackson to IR
No matter what you think about LB D’Qwell Jackson’s talent level in comparison to other NFL linebackers, he is a defensive captain on the Browns and is the team’s best linebacker. His influence on and off the field no doubt influences a defensive squad that, if nothing else, plays hard with the talent it has. That being said, it is unfortunate to hear that the Browns have lost Jackson for the season, as he was placed on the IR on Tuesday with a shoulder injury that will require surgery. The team’s leading tackler injured his shoulder in the second quarter [...]
Cleveland: The Mecca for Dropped Footballs
Old butter-hands, number 17, may be gone to light it up in the Big Apple, but the dropped passes continue to plague the Browns. As an aside, what is with Braylon’s acrobatics since arriving in New York? He made another stellar catch on Sunday to keep a late-game drive alive for the Jets on an errant throw by Sanchez. http://stats.washingtonpost.com/fb/leaders.asp?range=NFL&type=Receiving&rank=232 Click on the above link to see the unofficial statistics on dropped passes so far this season. Just one team, the Bengals, has had more drops than the Browns. Robert Royal is our worst offender at five. This cannot be [...]

Browns-Steelers: The Rivalry Continues This Sunday
There is no rest for the weary in Cleveland. Coming off our first win this season at Orchard Park last weekend (our forecasted headline was only half accurate as Ralph Wilson has yet to drop the shoe on Jauron), the Browns head to Steeltown this Sunday to face the World Champs. Pittsburgh no longer seems invincible. They lost to the Bengals; almost blew a huge lead against the Chargers; barely beat the winless Titans; lost to the Bears; and squeaked by the 1-4 Lions. They sit at 3-2, behind the first place Bengals and tied with the Ravens for second [...]
Eric Berry Watch (week 5)
Well I finally woke up from the snooze fest that was the Browns/Bills game, and what do you know we won!! Well that’s good and bad, good in the fact that we finally won a game and won’t match the Detroit Lions “perfect” 0-16 season of ’08, but bad in the fact that the Browns now sit in a four way tie for fifth pick, looks like we’re heading into Taylor Mays territory there (might have to start including him too!) Anyways here’s Eric’s stat line: Week 6 vs. Georgia (W 45-19) – 5 Tckls, 2 PD
Due to the mounting speculation, and the fact that quarterback Brady Quinn has put his Avon Lake, Ohio home up for sale, head coach Eric Mangini has been forced to say that the Browns are not looking to trade their now-backup quarterback. The rumors have begun to pick up steam with the trade deadline fast approaching on Oct. 20. Quinn was benched in favor of Derek Anderson after only 10 quarters into the season and, now that he is the backup, for the time being at least, many people have begun to wonder what Quinn’s future with the team really [...]
