Rookie RB James Davis Out for Season
The great news surrounding the Cleveland Browns just continues to get better and better (see: “sarcasm”). This time, the news is that rookie running back James Davis, he of the spectacular preseason, has been placed on injured reserve because of his shoulder injury and will be out the rest of the season. This stems from the hit he sustained from Antoine Winfield of the Minnesota Vikings during the season opener. This leaves the Browns frighteningly thin at the position. With Jamal Lewis unlikely to play against the Bengals, Jerome Harrison is now the starter. To cope with the loss of [...]
Rapper Common Makes Fun of Brady Quinn; Lewis and Dawson Statuses Uncertain for Bengals Game
Running back Jamal Lewis and kicker Phil Dawson were both idle in practice today – along with guard Floyd Womack – and their statuses all remain uncertain for Sunday’s game against the Bengals. Defensive ends Corey Williams and Kenyon Coleman are also injured but managed to practice today. If Lewis is not able to play, and I’ll sound like a broken record here, it is time for Jerome Harrison and James Davis to step up and carry the load. Harrison did a pretty good job against the Ravens, rushing for 52 yards on 16 carries. Keep in mind that the [...]
What the Hell Happened to our Draft Picks?
We are about to play our fourth game of the season, and it is as if we never drafted anyone this year. Alex Mack has been noticeable but hardly overpowering at the center position. At least we see him, though. WR Brian Robiskie has not a single reception. WR Massaquoi has two catches. RB James Davis has 4 catches and 9 carries. Auto accident or not, he has been used sparingly and has regressed since the pre-season. LB Kaluka Maiava has two tackles. CB Coye Francies has one. DE/LB David Veikune has nil. And, finally, CB Don Carey is not even in Cleveland. You [...]
Eric Berry Watch (Week 3)
Well as hard as it is to think of anything positive about this team, I guess there is some “good news”… we’re in a seven (7) way tie for the first pick!!!!!! Let’s just move on to what Eric did this past week: Week 4 vs. Ohio University – 7 tkls, .5 tkls for loss Not that jaw-dropping but he did have a few nice big hits also, something that no one currently in the Browns secondary could do.
There it is. Brady Quinn has been benched in favor of Derek Anderson for Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Well, maybe not favor so much as the alleged necessity to make some sort of change at the position. I said at the beginning of the season that if Anderson was named the starter after training camp, I would already give up on Eric Mangini. I would really like to consider doing it now. He stuck it out with Quinn for two games and, after one good drive followed by a disastrous end to the game, Mangini decided it was [...]
