Browns Select CB Joe Haden with the Seventh Overall Pick

With S Eric Berry already off the board, the Browns still decided to upgrade the secondary, only in a different manner. With the 7th pick, the Browns decided to take former Florida CB Joe Haden.

While at Florida, Haden was voted a freshman All-American by the Sporting News. He was also selected as a first team All-American this past season.

More to come on Haden later tonight.

We were in a very tough position. We reportedly tried desperately to trade down after Berry was off the board, but there were no offers worth taking. In Haden, we made a safe pick who does fill a hole (too many to count) in terms of player personnel.

We needed a safety or corner; an offensive lineman; a WR; a QB for the future; etc. When you are so bad on offense and defense, the Draft is tough. Generally, I’m satisfied with the selection. At least we didn’t do anything stupid.
