QB Colt McCoy Won't Play in 2010

There are no doubt fans who want quarterback Colt McCoy to play right away, but Browns president Mike Holmgren wants to make something clear: McCoy will be spending his rookie season on the sidelines.

With Jake Delhomme as the starter, it gives McCoy some time to learn the system and get acclimated to the NFL. As has been the case with many young quarterbacks in the past, being thrust into a starter’s role too early can set a player back, especially if his confidence is affected.

When given time to stand on the sidelines and “figure it all out,” it has proven to produce effective NFL quarterbacks - Philip Rivers, Aaron Rodgers, and Carson Palmer, for example. McCoy deserves the chance to learn the system without all the added pressure, though if the Browns get off to another bad start, the calls for him to start will be hard to ignore.

my comment is lengthy but worth the look, thnx to those who read it

Alright, so heres my input on our draft…
Joe Haden-Great pick, before all the Berry-hype, this was the guy every1 in Cleveland wanted…now we have our Revis-type CB

TJ Ward- I predicted Taylor Mays at #38, but basically i was just predicting a hard-hitting safety and didnt realize there was one besides Mays, i think he will start at FS in Game 1…Hes Dawkins like (hard worker, hard hitter, has cover ability when needed). In a yr or 2, we should compare his stats w/ T.Mays! lol

Hardesty- I like the pick, he has Jamal Lewis type ball carrier vision; when he finds that hole, he bursts thru it, bounces off one tackle, then schools the db’s and gets to the endzone…i just wish we woulda given up our 3rd 5th rounder, not the 1st 5th

Colt McCoy- GREATEST THING THAT COULDA HAPPENED TO THE BROWNS FOR ECONOMIC REASONS…he will not be getting payed tons of money while he is sitting for the yr or 2, which he wouldve at #38

Lauvao- Oline depth is never bad…i think i could agree that Bruce Campbell also mightve been good b/c of his potential, BUT Lauvao has played at LT, LG, and RG. Versitility=Mangini, Heckert

The last 3 are good cuz of what they bring. Asante brings depth, ST production, and a hopeful future starter. Mitchell is big, Edwards w/ hopefully less dropped balls and wayyy less the risk. Geather is f***ing 6′7″ish and around 300lbs, if u havent noticed, thats big! (he could end up being good, tipping alotta passes and maybe blocking some field goals.
