Despite the previous assertions that quarterback Colt McCoy would be spending the 2010 season on the sidelines, president Mike Holmgren has retracted a bit, saying “if he’s the guy, he plays.” That’s not to say that the Browns are looking for the first opportunity to stick McCoy in there, but it might be hard to hold him back if the team tanks this season. Seems like the latest theme on here is all the different pressures members of the Cleveland Browns organization are facing next season. Today, it is head coach Eric Mangini, the person likely feeling the most pressure going into next season. Obviously, much of the focus regarding the Browns offense has been centered on the quarterback position. It underwent a complete overhaul this off-season, as the team dumped both Derek Anderson and Brady Quinn for Jake Delhomme and Seneca Wallace. Offensive lineman Joel Reinders, signed by the Browns as an undrafted free agent, did not send out tapes of himself playing for the University of Waterloo in Canada. Instead, he and his agent relied on a YouTube highlight reel in the hopes that an NFL team would take notice and be impressed enough to give the giant lineman (Reinders is listed at 6-7, 320 lbs) a shot. According to some very strong hints by his twin brother Rex, head coach of the New York Jets, it would seem that Browns defensive coordinator Rob Ryan wanted to draft Boise State cornerback Kyle Wilson with the seventh overall pick in last month’s NFL Draft. Instead, the Browns drafted Florida cornerback Joe Haden, while Wilson fell to the Jets with the 29th pick. One of the biggest storylines of the Browns rookie minicamp is the debut of quarterback Colt McCoy, and apparently, he did not disappoint. His passes were on target and crisp, something fans should com to expect from a player whose career completion percentage in college was over 70%.
