Browns Ink Veteran WR Bobby Engram

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns, Free Agency, Position Battles | COMMENTS: None Yet

In a surprising and unexpected move, the Browns have signed veteran WR Bobby Engram, who most recently played for the Kansas City Chiefs last season. Engram, a former 2nd round pick in the 1996 draft out of  Penn State, was selected by the Chicago Bears, and had his best season playing for the Seattle Seahawks back in 2007 when he had over 1,100 yards receiving. Having spent a number of years in Seattle, Engram is familiar with new president Mike Holmgren. During his 14-year career Engram has 650 receptions for 7,751 yards and 35 touchdowns.  He has also started 113 [...]

Joe Haden Looking to Get to Camp on Time

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns, Contract Talks | COMMENTS: None Yet

It looks like 1st round pick Joe Haden is intent on getting a deal done before training camp begins.  Haden’s agent, Malik Shareef, was quoted as saying that: Our main objective is to get Joe in camp on time so he can perform to the best of his abilities. A holdout would not be in anyone’s best interests. Shareef also said that he has been in contact with the team and that he expects to begin negotiating as soon as next week. Haden is expected to compete against both Sheldon Brown and Eric Wright for a starting corner spot.  But [...]

Yahoo! Sports’ Cleveland Browns Fantasy Breakdown

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns, Fantasy Football, NFL, Popular | COMMENTS: None Yet

Andy Behrens of Yahoo! Sports is breaking down each team for the upcoming fantasy football season. Recently, Behrens gave his thoughts on the Browns, who came in 31st in his team fantasy rankings. Here is what Behrens had to say about Cleveland’s running back position: The Browns provided the fantasy community with exactly one useful player last year, but that guy could find himself on the short end of a platoon this season. Jerome Harrison was the top-scoring fantasy running back over the final three weeks of 2009, thanks to an obscene workload (35.3 carries per game) and a friendly [...]

Cleveland Browns and WR Carlton Mitchell Reach Agreement

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

The Browns and rookie WR Carlton Mitchell have agreed to terms on a four-year deal today. Mitchell, who was projected by some as a 2nd or 3rd round pick in this past year’s NFL Draft, is expected to help the Browns’ relatively inexperienced receiving game.  The former South Florida standout slipped to the 6th round (177 overall), but checks in at 6’3″ 215 lbs and will add both speed and size to the receiving corps. Mitchell is the second Browns rookie to sign a deal with the team this season – the other being DE  Clifton Geathers, also a 6th [...]

Browns Players Developing Habit of Bringing Loaded Guns to Airports

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns, Legal Trouble | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

We may have heard about it happening to Shaun Rogers first, but defensive lineman Robaire Smith started the trend of bringing a loaded gun to an airport only to forget he had it. Smith is now facing charges for committing the same idiotic mistake as Rogers, only he was traveling through Bishop Airport in Flint, MI on Nov. 6th of last year.  If you recall, Rogers was arrested on April 1st and Smith was right there with him when it happened. I know football players have a lot of things to worry about, but remembering that you have a loaded gun [...]

Yahoo! Sports Ranks Browns’ Backfield Dead Last in NFL

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

Even a superb end-of-season demolition of opposing defenses by running back Jerome Harrison could not save the Cleveland Browns from being ranked last in the NFL at the running back position. Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports did the rankings, and he makes a good point: He [Harrison] rushed for 561 yards and five TDs over that stretch, including 286 yards in one game. However, that run came against Kansas City, Oakland and Jacksonville in meaningless games, so we’ll reserve final judgment for awhile. Hopefully, it’s real. More likely, it’s not and the Browns are stuck with a roster full of [...]
