Braylon Edwards: “There’s Nothing Going On in Cleveland”

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns, Other/Off-Topic | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Thanks to some shoddy journalism by The New York Times, Cleveland fans get to once again relive the insanity that is former wide receiver Braylon Edwards. In an interview with the Times, Edwards ripped on Cleveland and the Browns organization once again, making claims such as this: “There’s nothing going on in Cleveland. There’s no real estate. There’s no social life, no social networking. All the people who have something going on leave Cleveland. So Cleveland has nothing, and I came in there with a New York-type of essence. So what? That was the attitude I came in with. Like, [...]

Where Does RB James Davis Fit into the Cleveland Browns’ Plans?

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns, Injuries, Position Battles, Training Camp | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

The running back competition is crowded, but one guy who has seemingly been lost amid the hype of rookie Montario Hardesty (though he is now injured) and newly-acquired Peyton Hillis – not to mention the expectations of Jerome Harrison – is second-year back James Davis. After a stellar preseason in 2009, Davis was poised to be a breakout star and entrench himself as the running back of the future. A shoulder injury ended his season – after just one game – but it did not stop him from being involved in the team, as Davis explains in this cleveland.com article: “When I [...]

No Suspension (Yet) and No Practice for NT Shaun Rogers

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns, Legal Trouble, Training Camp | COMMENTS: None Yet

There sure is a lot of uncertainty surrounding Browns nose tackle Shaun Rogers lately. Head coach Eric Mangini said this week that Rogers was not close to returning to practice. The recovery from his lower leg injury is progressing, but he still hasn’t passed his physical and probably won’t be in practice anytime soon. When Rogers does return, he might find it difficult to regain his role as the starting nose tackle. Ahtyba Rubin has played well in Rogers’ absence, impressing the coaching staff with the effort he is putting forth. Rogers’ current legal situation does not bode well for [...]

Offensive Lineman Shawn Lauvao Taking Advantage of Opportunities

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns, Position Battles, Training Camp | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Rookie offensive lineman Shawn Lauvao is getting opportunities to work with the first team offense early in camp, thanks to a few unfortunate ailments and injuries to Tony Pashos and John St. Clair. Better yet for the third-round pick, he is impressing all the right people, including head coach Eric Mangini. Lauvao’s size, strength, and football smarts are allowing him to make an impact on the line and it seems like he is going to make good use of his time with the first team. The longer that Pashos and St. Clair stay out, the harder it might be for [...]

Quarterback Platoon in Cleveland? Please, No!

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

Yesterday, several Browns-related media outlets touched upon the idea of a possible quarteback platoon situation brewing between Jake Delhomme and Seneca Wallace, as the former Seattle Seahawk has been seen frequently spelling the former Carolina Panther early in his reps with the ones during training camp. While a QB platoon is certainly an interesting thing to discuss in the dog days of August, it’s really just crazy to believe that a platoon between Delhomme and Wallace is going to happen – or that it’s a good idea. For one, this is the NFL we’re talking about – not the NCAA. [...]

Browns Camp Feels Different With All the Rookies In On Time

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns, NFL Draft, Preseason, Training Camp | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Browns opened their first weekend of training camp 2010 with a resounding “yessssss.” Browns fans are ready for football, plain and simple. No fan base needs a successful or promising season as much as Cleveland sports fans do right now. Period. And the proof is in the pudding with over 7,000 of them turning up to watch the Browns’ first two practices. We’re talking about practice man, not a game, but practice. Besides the arrival of Mike Holmgren, this camp feels different than those of years past. I mean it’s quiet right? What’s the deal with this? All of the Browns [...]

2010 Browns Position Preview: Wide Receivers and Tight Ends

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns, Previews | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

This is part of a series in which we will look at every facet of the team and provide position previews for the Browns, leading up to the start of the regular season. Just the thought of the Browns’ receiving corps last season was enough to make me cringe, and rightfully so (we ranked dead last in passing in 2009).  Well, it’s a new year and not a whole lot has changed, but I think we can all honestly admit that the passing game should be improved from last year’s, and for a number of reasons.  The first being the [...]
