Week 4 Preview and How the Browns Will Win

AUTHOR: | IN: Previews | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

This week’s opponent – Cincinnati Bengals Alright,  last week’s game was closer than most people expected, but really being close only counts for a few things in life – horseshoes and hand grenades come to mind.  There were some positives and definitely some negatives, but we aren’t going to hash those out here, so onto the new week. Making the trip up I-71 is the inter-state rival the Cincinnati Bengals, who are coming off back-to-back victories over Carolina and Baltimore respectively.  The Bengals made some big off-season moves on the offensive side of the ball adding WR Terrell Owens and [...]

Get Your Tomatoes Ready! My Defense of Head Coach Eric Mangini

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Heading into this season, the temperature of Eric Mangini’s seat was warm. Now that the Cleveland Browns have dropped three very winnable games and fallen to 0-3, that seat has gotten so hot that Coach Mangini can’t even sit down for fear of burning his ass. Personally, I think it’s unfair that Mangini has to stand all day and I kind of feel for the guy – or at least I do through JUST three weeks of his second season. Let’s face it, whether you like Mangini and his methods or you don’t, the guy inherited a shipwreck of situation along the [...]

Week 3 NFL Recap: Surprise

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns, Gameday, NFL | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

Some strange scores popped up Week 3, as the NFL landscape continues to evolve and adjust to itself. The surprise teams are beginning to raise their hands, and the disappointments are beginning to stumble. While still early, it should be noted that no team currently leading their division was the team that won it last year. The Browns unfortunately are 0-3 just like last year. Surprising or not, the seeds of improvement are there if you look. The Browns have been outscored in their first three losses by 12 points combined (Browns 45, Opponents 57). Last year, the Browns were [...]

Peyton Hillis Staggers Ravens’ Defense, Browns Still Lose

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

In every nerd/bully relationship, there reaches a point where the nerd has to make a decision for himself: either the nerd continues to hand over his milk money without a fight, or the nerd finally stands up to the bully and throws a punch. Now I’m not calling the Cleveland Browns a bunch of nerds, but I am suggesting that the Baltimore Ravens have repeatedly bullied the Browns into handing over their milk money through the years, and  I do believe that Sunday’s game in Baltimore was a major milk money moment for the 0-2 Browns under second-year head coach Eric [...]

Five Reasons the Browns Lost to the Baltimore Ravens

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns, Gameday | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

Games like these are often more frustrating than blowouts. For the third game in a row, the Cleveland Browns held a lead in the fourth quarter, only to see it turn into a loss. On Sunday, the Browns played their best game yet, but it wasn’t enough to beat the division rival Baltimore Ravens. Unlike the past two weeks, there doesn’t seem to be an eternal amount of reasons as to why the Browns lost, but the difference this time around is that the mistakes that led to this loss were incredibly glaring. So, that being said, here are five [...]

Scouting the Baltimore Ravens: Q+A with Baltimore Bloggers

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns, Gameday | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

As stated in the NFL.com article that I wrote for this week, this will be the 23rd time that the Browns will face the Ravens. Whether or not you still think of the them as the “old Browns,” the Ravens are a team that has usually had its way with the “new Browns.” I spoke with two Baltimore Ravens bloggers – Conoon Kim of The Purple Chaos and Matt Sadler of the Baltimore Sports Report – to get their opinions on today’s game. You can read my answers to Conoon and Matt’s questions here and here. 1. Despite the additions [...]

Jake Delhomme Out and Brian Robiskie Doubtful; Others Questionable

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns, Injuries | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Update (10:30 pm): Seneca Wallace will be starting in place of Jake Delhomme on Sunday. Both quarterback Jake Delhomme and wide receiver Brian Robiskie are doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens, as is linebacker D’Qwell Jackson. Remember Brian Robiskie? He is the second-year receiver who had a great preseason and has been given the opportunity to turn that into a robust 2 catches for 18 yards in the first two games. The news about Delhomme means Browns fans will once again see Seneca Wallace as the starting quarterback. Last week, we talked about Wallace’s added mobility, which could [...]

DPD Fantasy Football Friday: Eliminating Doubt

AUTHOR: | IN: Fantasy Football, NFL, Previews | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

I have a fantasy football buddy in my office. We play in different leagues so we’re free to exchange our true opinions and strategies. We spend a lot of time by the coffee maker swapping stories and asking each other questions. He’s got major running back problems. He’s lost Ryan Grant for the year, and now has a Michael Turner injury to mull over. He was wise enough to acquire Jason Snelling, and is now trying to figure out who to play this week against New Orleans. We went back and forth over how good Frank Gore looked against the [...]

Week 3 Preview and How the Browns Will Win

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

Week 3 opponent – Baltimore Ravens Ughh, this wasn’t how the season was supposed to start.  The Browns were supposed to win their first two match-ups before heading into this two-month murderous stretch.  Well as we all know, things rarely go according to plan, especially when it pertains to the Browns.  I suppose though there is still a silver-lining to this week, at least we aren’t the Jets and don’t have to put up with former WR Braylon Edwards‘ antics… Anyways let’s move onto the game this week. The Browns will head to Baltimore this weekend to take on the [...]
