Q+A with the Enemy: New York Jets Blog, The J-E-T Press

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns, Gameday | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

To get a better perspective on Sunday’s match-up against the New York Jets, I posed five questions to Jets blogger Marc Greenberg of The J-E-T Press. You can my answers to his questions here. 1. Despite a 6-2 record, how concerned are you about the last two games the Jets have played (9-0 loss to the Packers and a 23-20 win against the Lions) and how this team will play down the stretch? The main concern  is the offense and QB Mark Sanchez.  He doesn’t seem 100% comfortable with his passes just yet.  Most defenses are loading up on the [...]

Braylon Edwards Returns–Fans Need To Take the High Road

AUTHOR: | IN: NFL | COMMENTS: 8 Comments

If Braylon Edwards scores a touchdown in his return to Cleveland Browns Stadium this Sunday, I’m preparing myself to witness a LeBron James impersonation in the end zone. That’s the cruelest and most obvious insult he could deliver in those 15 seconds of glory. I just want to be ready, and if Braylon gets his moment, he is going all the way. Thing is, let’s say he does slap Browns fan with the most emphatic F*YOU ever, something he’s been hyping all week, would it really matter? Anything he actually does is only going to make him look worse, so let him. Cleveland fans [...]

Rare In-Game Photo of RB Peyton Hillis Emerges

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns, Other/Off-Topic | COMMENTS: 4 Comments

As evidenced by our discussion to come up with a nickname for Browns running back Peyton Hillis, “Juggernaut” seems to be something that will stick. Which is fitting, because this rare, actual in-game photo of the running back has just emerged. Check it out (thanks to those who called my attention to this one):

Colt McCoy and the “F” Word: Do the Browns Finally Have their Franchise QB?

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

It’s perfectly understandable if you’re not ready to annoint rookie Colt McCoy as ”the one” after just three games. After all, three games is still part of the getting to know you process, anyways, and after 11 years of failures at quarterback, it’s only natural to be a bit hesitant with such a small sample size. That said, it’s alright to be more than a little excited from what we’ve seen out of the rookie from Texas, a third round “project” who wasn’t supposed to see the field at all this season. In three starts againt three difficult opponents, McCoy’s more than exceeded expectations as he’s completed nearly 68% of [...]

Is It Safe to Say That Eric Mangini Has Saved His Job?

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

Now, I know that the Cleveland Browns are only 3-5, but there was a point in the season – when the Browns were 1-5 – that it seemed more likely that we would see Mike Holmgren get naked and run around on the field during a game than see Eric Mangini as head coach for another season. Then the Browns placed firm beatings on both the New Orleans Saints and the New England Patriots. In these two huge wins, the Browns looked prepared and executed all facets of the game everything perfectly. Adjustments were made throughout these games (which has always [...]

Poll: What Should Peyton Hillis’ Nickname Be?

AUTHOR: | IN: Polls | COMMENTS: 68 Comments

After running back Peyton Hillis’ monstrous day on Sunday, the nickname-guessing is out in full force. After all, this rumbling back has been so integral to the offense this season that it’s becoming imperative that he gets a nickname. Just as we’re all hoping Colt can become the “real McCoy” and earn a nickname of his own. What’s that, you say? That nickname for McCoy was lame and too obvious? Too bad! Anyway, if you don’t see any Hillis nicknames below that you like, be sure to add your own in the comments. Thanks to all the people who have [...]

Happy Days: Notes From The Browns’ Win Over New England

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns, Gameday, NFL | COMMENTS: 10 Comments

The Browns creamed the New England Patriots 34-14 on Sunday, and now, this is starting to get fun. Brian Daboll getting chest bumped to the ground, another Gatorade shower, killing the guy who cut Bernie. Another win, another blowout – it’s all just so sweet. Other game notes and fun thoughts: Colt had me at hello (more specifically on the throw to Brian Robiskie) I had been on the fence on Colt McCoy until now. I liked the guy a lot, don’t get me wrong, I just didn’t want to get my hopes up too soon. Lots of my friends [...]

How About That! Browns Ride Peyton Hillis to Victory Over Patriots

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns, Gameday | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

You thought the win over the New Orleans Saints was awesome but, come on, did you really expect the Browns to beat the New England Patriots this week? There will be die-hard fans who say “yeah, of course, man!” but we all had our doubts. At 6-1, the Patriots looked like the Patriots of old going into this week, and the Patriots of old don’t make many mistakes and are rarely upset. After Sunday’s game, these might not be the Browns of old anymore. Here are five reasons the Browns managed to pull the upset over the New England Patriots: [...]

Q+A with the Enemy: Patriots Blog, Musket Fire

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns, Gameday | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

To help get a better perspective on today’s match-up with the New England Patriots, we spoke with Jamie Pacheco of the Patriots blog Musket Fire. My questions and his answers are below (and you can read my responses to his questions here): 1. Is there any surprise among you or other Patriots fans that the team is currently 6-1, with the best record in the league? I am definitely surprised, as is the rest of Patriot Nation. Predictions for the Patriots’ season on the local sports radio shows ranged everywhere from 7-9 to 10-6 at best, though some who were [...]
