Browns Hire Chris Tabor as Special Teams Coordinator

He might only have three years of experience working in the NFL, but new special teams coordinator Chris Tabor comes with high praises from head coach Pat Shurmur.

Shurmur continues to fill the available positions in his coaching staff, hiring Tabor to take the job left open by Brad Seely’s departure. Tabor was an assistant under Chicago Bears special teams coordinator Dave Toub, who has a history with Shurmur and GM Tom Heckert going back to their days in Philadelphia.

People were pretty high on Seely, but Tabor comes from another highly successful special teams unit. The Bears ranked in the top five of nine special teams categories during Tabor’s tenure in Chicago, and he had the luxury of working with return specialist Devin Hester. which bodes well for Josh Cribbs, the Browns’ own dynamic kick returner.

On a side note, the name Chris Tabor almost looks like Chris Tambor, which makes me think of Jeffrey Tambor, who played George Bluth on the best show in existence – Arrested Development. Man, I really miss that show.
