Cleveland Browns Waive Eight Players to Trim Roster Down to 80

The Cleveland Browns waived eight players on Sunday in order to trim their roster down to 80, as the movement towards the final 53-man roster begins this coming weekend.

The eight players released by the Browns were quarterback Troy Weatherhead, wide receiver Johnathan Haggerty, defensive lineman Kyle Anderson, defensive lineman Jabari Fletcher, safety Brett Johnson, wide receiver Juan Nunez, kicker Jeff Wolfert, and cornerback Darian Hagan.

The most notable name in that list is Johnathan Haggerty, as he made a great impression early in training camp, leading some to believe that he could make the team. However, with the emergence of Jordan Norwood, it became evident that Haggerty was going to get squeezed out of a roster spot.

Teams have until Tuesday to trim their rosters down to 80 players.

Browns made a huge mistake by letting Haggarty go, he has more talent than most of the WR on the team, especially Norwood and Little! They didn’t give him much of a chance in most of the preseason games and I bet this decision comes back to haunt them! Shame on Cleveland for letting this guy go!

@brownie fan 1767 agree totally. NOT sure Why Holmgren wouldn’t have kept him. I saw him during the practices and he was hands down one of the most consistent receivers they had. sucks for clevelend but i am sure some other team will see his talent.. its only a matter of time before they are kicking themselves in the ass!
