The Cleveland Browns officially placed linebacker Scott Fujita (neck) on injured reserve today, ending his season and, possibly, his career. The team signed defensive lineman Brian Sanford from the practice squad to take Fujita’s place on the active roster.

Sanford appeared in five games for the Browns last season, generating three tackles. The 6-foot-2, 280-pound lineman spent the first seven weeks of the season on the practice squad.

As for Fujita, he is considering retirement. The Browns signed him in 2010 from the New Orleans Saints, and he has spent much of his time in Cleveland being injured. This season, he appeared in four games, totaling 14 tackles and a sack.
