Ken Whisenhunt Interviews with Cleveland Browns

Though the Cleveland Browns appear to be all about Oregon head coach Chip Kelly, they are still interviewing a number of other candidates.

This includes Ken Whisenhunt, who was let go by the Arizona Cardinals earlier this week.

The Browns interviewed Whisenhunt on Wednesday as they wait to interview Kelly after Thursday’s Fiesta Bowl. The team is also interviewing Cardinals defensive coordinator Ray Horton and Syracuse head coach Doug Marrone, though if he was the Browns’ hire, fans might storm the team’s headquarters in Berea.

Of all the available NFL coaches not named Andy Reid or Lovie Smith, Whisenhunt is the most intriguing and exciting choice. Despite the Cardinals’ rough 2012, Whisenhunt had them playing at a high level for most of his tenure, coaching them all the way to Super Bowl XLIII.

The Browns may be going all in on Chip Kelly, but if that falls through, a guy like Whisenhunt is an excellent Plan B. It’s good to know the front office is doing its due diligence in the hiring process.
