Browns Fans Reaction to Richardson Deal

The Cleveland Browns and Indianapolis Colts make a deal to send running back Trent Richardson to the Colts for their first round pick in 2014.  The Browns throw in the towel on the season and try to maximize value on an asset they feel did not feel was a good fit in what they wanted to do.  The Colts get what they hope is a franchise back to pair with their franchise quarterback in Andrew Luck.  They are hoping this is the catalyst for them not only to build a dominant offense but push them into the playoffs and perhaps more now.

Richardson had over 1,300 total yards and 11 touchdowns as a rookie while dealing with some nagging injuries.  The expectation was that a healthy version would be better.  In the first two weeks, that did not happen, but that does not mean it could not or would not.  Nevertheless, the Browns trade their best offensive skill position player in Richardson.

With this move, the Browns own an extra first, third, and fourth round pick as well as the full complement of other picks.  They have the ammo to get a quarterback, but it is going to be brutal football for the next 14 weeks.  So where do you come out on this move?

This just in. With a suprise move the Cleveland Browns also decided to pick up and move to England becoming the first European NFL team. They figured that is the only way they will still be able to sell tickets.

  • Christopher Mikle Ramey

They are just trying to piss off everyone so that no one will care when they move the team and keep the name. F You M.L.!

    • Cleveland Clown Fan

I agree. we will never be good until we keep our drafted players to until they become five year veterans. Stupid front offices have been our bane since 1999.

It’s time to make the move to the NEW NFL……. Tackle Tennis.

Can someone tell me why we want a round 1 draft pick? What r the odds we keep them? I guess #3 isn’t good enough to keep so why don’t we trade all round #1 picks to Pittsburgh and take their round 5.

A great move. As it turns out Jim Brown was right. TR was average. A good dancer but not a premiere NFL running back.

  • TeddyRoos

So basically the entire first round in 2012 was a waste of time. In addition we traded up to get Richardson. I sure hope Banner knows what he’s doing. Right now it just looks like he’s clearing the deck of anyone that doesn’t have the Joe B seal on him. Wonder if he’ll be a quick to realize his own mistakes and get rid of them that fat. I doubt it.

I understand the reasoning that you build with a QB first and get the weapons later. Letting Richardson get knocked around while we look for a QB is a bad situation. On the other hand, Richardson is a talent that doesn’t come around that often. He was exactly the kind of RB we like in Cleveland. He runs hard and hits hard. His run average so far this season is not great, but there is so much potential there and he’s only had just over one season to show what he’s got. This is a big gamble for the Browns and could be a make/break move for the front office.

    • Pete Smith

They have to make it count, period.

  • One very angry Browns Fan

Anyone saying this was a good deal is a joke, just like the team they are tanking the whole season so they can have “Their” guys here well if you look at our talent evaluators last draft hmmm lets see not one of them is starting. No WR’s, one 3rd round DB, and no offensive linemen which all three have shown to be HUGE holes for our team in 2 weeks. For those that are saying Trent was only averaging 3.5 yards or whatever it is, do you watch the games when they put eight in the box with a predictable offense that a defense can key on without even trying. Shot gun = Pass and Under Center = Run. Name me a RB ever who could make this work period. Last season just to refresh your memories Trent rushed for a Browns Franchise record for both yards and touchdowns for a rookie. Even better than Hall of Famer and arguably the best RB in the history of the game Jim Brown and oh yea he did that on a shaky knee and broken ribs. This may go down as the worst move in sports history and makes us look like the laughing stock of any sports organization and probably rightly so after making this bone headed move. If I was a season ticket holder or for that matter had any tickets to see the Browns this year I would eat the cost and just stay home and boycott this team. Why pay all that money to support a team with your hard earned money to watch them put a team out there that to be honest has no chance to win a game this season and may just struggle to beat a solid Ohio State team which is horrible to say because that’s crazy to say because they are a college team, not pros. Though if you think about it form this point on that would most likely be the best game that is not going to be a blow out for us good defense or not. We will not be able to score any points against anyone and the defense will wear down. I am shocked and really feel like the fan base really needs to make a huge point in expressing their disapproval like never before.
