Browns vs. Packers: Live Game Thread, Inactives

The Cleveland Browns start the toughest three game stretch they will face this year starting with the Green Bay Packers in Lambeau Field.  The Packers are decimated with injuries on both sides of the ball but while the Browns can play defense, their offense cannot consistently do anything.  They have a few play makers in Josh Gordon and Jordan Cameron but the inability to run with any consistency puts Brandon Weeden in difficult positions and obvious passing situations, which have resulted in some terrible plays.

The good news is the Browns have Jabaal Sheard back in the lineup after the injury he suffered in the win against the Minnesota Vikings.  Sheard is arguably the best player on the entire defense and makes it so they are back at full strength with their outside linebackers, which will be extremely important as they try to get pressure on Aaron Rodgers.  As much focus as the Browns will want to put on stopping Rodgers, the Packers have a strong running game led by Eddie Lacy who has shown he can be a big time player, making the overall offense that much more dangerous.

Browns Inactives – DE Billy Winn, OL Martin Wallace, OL Garrett Gilkey, OL Patrick Lewis, TE Kaevon Milton, LB Brandon Magee

Packers Inactives – OLB Clay Matthews, OLB Nick Perry, CB Casey Hayward, LB Brad Jones, WR James Jones, RB James Starks, TE Ryan Taylor

    He’s my guy.
Good blitz there results in a sack by Kruger/Owens

  • Pete Smith

Packers failed at something… Browns with an opportunity here

  • Mike

Let’s just hope if the Browns got him that they don’t ruin him like the Texans did to his brother

    • Pete Smith

The situation they have now is far, far better than he had. I think they could give him an incredibly nice offense to walk into with all of those draft picks. I like what they can do based on what I’ve seen so far, but we’ll see how it shakes out.

  • Mike

    Have to take advantage here

  • Mike

You mean to tell me nobody is open?

  • Mike

Schwartz just killing the Browns this year

  • Pete Smith

    Mingo draws a holding penalty

  • Pete Smith

They are getting a little more pressure. If they can force a punt, they could have good field position

  • Mike

    Big return here..Let’s Go Browns!!

  • Mike

There is the field position, now what they do with it is on them

  • Pete Smith

A touchdown would make this a football game, at least momentarily. A field goal would shrink the lead but not really make a statement. I would expect them to take a shot deep on first or second down, but we’ll see.

  • Mike

    That was a start

  • Mike

    Huge penalty!!!

  • Pete Smith

Moving right down the field. Well oiled machine

  • Mike

    ha

  • Mike

Everyone and their sister knew what was coming there…stop being cute and throw one up to Gordon or Cameron

  • Pete Smith

MarQueis Gray does not seem to understand how the read play works

  • Mike

I would agree with that ha

  • Mike

    well it’s points

  • Pete Smith

It’s tough to win with field goals against a team that puts up touchdowns. Defense has to come up big again

  • Mike

Sure is….I just cannot believe that nobody is open when Weeden is sitting back there for 6 secs before he gets sacked

  • Pete Smith

hey… it’s Tashaun Gipson with another poor tackle

  • Pete Smith

Kruger was held like crazy on that… not called

  • Pete Smith

    Craig Robertson is a JAG

  • Mike

Robertson is way too slow in coverage…He has been exposed recently

    • Pete Smith

Robertson is good when he is protected by the defensive line and can run around and make plays but struggles in coverage. That is not difficult to find

  • Pete Smith

That is frustrating… so tough not to get a sack there. No damage though

  • Pete Smith

Obvious hold on Desmond Bryant. Couldn’t ignore that one

  • Mike

I was gonna say he tackled him, and he wants to know why he was called..is he crazy

  • Pete Smith

Another punt forced. D is bringing it this half

  • Mike

Defense is doing their job now the offense needs to step up

  • Mike

    Stupid

  • Pete Smith

Martin gets called for the second hit… terrible

  • Mike

    First Down!!

  • Mike

    Whatchu talking bout Willis!

  • Pete Smith

Seems like the Browns opted to get the shitty half out of the way and play well in the second half. Rather than getting people’s hopes up and letting them down, they seem to want to try to get people interested late

  • Mike

    Haha

  • Mike

    Love Cameron

  • Mike

    Wow

  • Pete Smith

Weeden put the ball in the right spot for a change. The idea to go for it on 4th and 15 is debatable, but can’t blame every single thing on Weeden. Gordon has to make a play

  • Mike

Agreed…I think you kick the FG there then you are down by 8 however

  • Mike

    So….

  • Pete Smith

That’s not a dirty hit. It’s a bad tackle as per usual from Gipson, but not something that should be penalized

  • Mike

Hit him with his shoulder and that’s a penalty?

  • Pete Smith

I really hope Jermichael Finley is okay, but I don’t know what Gipson is supposed to do there.

  • Mike

I agree on both ur points

  • Mike

I’m still hung up on the 4th and 15…I think you have to kick that Fg…Defense is playing good and you only need 8

  • Mike

And just as I say that……Boom

  • Pete Smith

    Well, that’s something

  • Mike

    ha

  • Mike

And that non FG try is looming large again
