Much to the excitement of many fans of the Cleveland Browns, they will not have to suffer through this week with Brandon Weeden under center.  Rob Chudzinski announced today that Jason Campbell will get the nod this week against the Kansas City Chiefs.

As good as this might sound to some fans, the Chiefs have the best defense in the league by a wide margin.  The Browns will have a fresh face running the offense, but it might not be the best week to do it as the Chiefs’ defense has shut down everyone put in front of them to this point and give up less than 12 points per game.  Nevertheless, Campbell will have the opportunity to go and spark the offense.

The good news is while the Chiefs defense is flat out dominant, their offense has not been nearly as effective.  They do have one of the best running backs in the NFL in Jamaal Charles, their passing attack led by Alex Smith tends to avoid mistakes, but has little firepower.  The Browns defense could and will need to have a big day.  This could be an extremely low scoring game and while the ‘Anyone but Weeden’ crowd gets what they wanted, this could be the worst week possible to make that move.  Weeden has been nothing short of an abject failure, but this is a tough week to get a ton of improvement from the quarterback position.
