Browns clinch the 4th pick in the NFL Draft

With the long, painful process that was the 2013 NFL season coming to an end, at least in the regular season, the Cleveland Browns have clinched the fourth spot in the draft.  The Houston Texans will be picking first and are currently searching for a head coach, the St. Louis Rams will pick second courtesy of Robert Griffin III trade will pick second, and the Jacksonville Jaguars are picking third.

The question all of a sudden at this point is who the coach will be for the Browns when they are making this pick.  All of a sudden, there is significant speculation that Rob Chudzinski could be a one and done head coach and suddenly Joe Banner, Mike Lombardi, Ray Farmer and Jimmy Haslam have to admit they made a huge miscalculation and find the right guy who needs to be better, faster.

The question as to where the Browns will be picking courtesy of the Indianapolis Colts, both for Trent Richardson and an unrelated trade is still up in the air as is the status of a third round pick from Pittsburgh.

We were promised stability, that was the big talk of this front office when they took over, and a one and done coach!!?? Pete, I told you they lie, what more do you need!! Evidently a wasted year and here we go again!! New coaches, they want their players, maybe change defenses and what else?? What a mess!!

    • Pete Smith

I hope they keep Chud. It was not a wasted year though. They had to evaluate the offense and they did. Now, they have to build one.

It will be if we change coaches! The new coach will want his people in as coordinators, therefore they want their people in and away we go!! It’s all start over. That’s been the problem with this franchise since day one!! If they change the coach, there will be problems with the fans, explaining it !! Are they trying to look like the Tribe and Cavs!!

        • Pete Smith

It depends on the route they choose. I doubt they are making wholesale changes in scheme. We’ll see.

          • Letterman007

Yes, but they thought they had the defense pretty set and if we get a new coordinator, he might want some new players, or a slightly different scheme . These new coaches haven’t seen the players or evaluated them, so they will have no input yet. It’s almost a start over!!

They were playing for draft position the entire season.
Once again fans are told “wait till next year”. More draft picks wasted on sub par players.

    • Pete Smith

They weren’t, but it worked out that way, which I was happy to see. The Draft was hardly a waste, but it is a fun narrative to think they did, isn’t it?
