After hemming and hawing a little bit on the Dan Patrick Show, a more composed Bob Stoops was a little more prepared for the Cleveland Browns question with local reporters.  Stoops is no stronger to dealing with the media having spent so long in Norman as the head coach of the Oklahoma Sooners, so part of this feels like he is having a little bit of fun, but there is an element here that seems like has an ulterior motive.

The interest in Stoops from the Browns could be completely legitimate, but especially when it came to these questions and given the win against the Alabama Crimson Tide in the Sugar Bowl, he seems like is more interested in a pay raise to stay in Norman.  One wonders if the talk of him possibly going to Cleveland had not reached him before he went on the Dan Patrick Show the way he handled the question there.

When it came to local reporters, he seemed to be even more confident with everything that is going on with him.  In what is complete speculation on my part, he comes off as someone who is about to get a big pay raise to stay in Oklahoma.  Or at the very least, he sounds like he knows he is about to get a huge pay check from someone and have his pick of what he wants to do.  There was a sizable amount of pressure on ‘Big Game’ Bob because it had been a while since he had won a huge game.

Beating the Crimson Tide as a two touchdown underdog is no small task, especially with how his redshirt freshman quarterback Trevor Knight played.  Knight had never played that well during his time there, but if that is a preview of things to come, Stoops may not be in any hurry to leave.
