Brunch with Brownie

Good late morning and early afternoon Browns fans!!!

Well two games down in the NFL playoffs, after last night’s exciting start to the 2014 playoffs.

The Colts saw themselves come back from a 28 point deficit late in the third quarter to defeat the Kansas City Chiefs 45-44. It was the 2nd-largest comeback in playoff history.  Makes you wish the Browns had the number one pick that year and Andrew Luck was slinging his magic in Cleveland, but alas we did not.

In the later of the two games last night, the New Orleans Saints marched down the field in the waning minutes of the

game to lineup in the center of the field for kicker Shayne Graham to nail a 32 yard field goal to put the Eagles away.  The Saints beat the Eagles 26-24, ending the playoff dream for new coach Chip Kelly and his team.

On the home front, the coaching search continues in Cleveland, with several names continuing to rise to the top.  One name that keeps coming and going through the rumor mill, is Oklahoma Sooners’ coach Bob Stoops.  One minute the Browns are interested and the next minute sources are saying not true.  Not too sure how you all feel about the rumor of Bob Stoops being high on the Browns wish list.

Would love to hear what you are all thinking or who you are wishing for to wear the headset for the Browns next year…

Funny, heard Cabot a little while ago on the Fan w/Borman reiterating her report of a source stating Browns have no interest in Stoops followed by Rapoport on NFL Network just a few minutes ago say that despite stories out there reported by “others,” Stoops and McDaniels are Browns top 2 targets.

This FO is doing a really good job of keeping everyone in the dark.

      • Mike

Totally agree Sam!! Let’s hope they make the right move!!

      • Nick Flasher

Yeah, because they already hired Josh McDaniels before they fired Chudzinski. It’s the same thing they did with bringing all those other GMs in even though Lombardi was the guy all along. Where there’s “initial” smoke with this front office, there’s always fire. I mean, why send everyone and their mothers to New England on Saturday, but only a couple to Arizona to meet with Bowles?

        • Josh Hart

          Spot on Nick.

        • Sam Gold

They’ve done that once so I guess that’s how they always do things. We’ll know soon enough.

          • Nick Flasher

Everyone knows when you do things once, you always do it.
Some other ones that come to mind: They don’t care for Trent Richardson, Brian Hoyer is a starting QB in this league (which is why they made him jump Campbell), etc.

            ??

          • Nick Flasher

It was a joke. I sensed your sarcasm :)

But the first leak always seems to be the right one. They just changed their tune on Josh Gordon after he proved them wrong and no one was offering anything good enough in their minds anymore.

I think the Front Office likes games with the media and loves these smoke signals ! If they aren’t doing it then the press is using it to stir the pot. To have something to put in print?

  • Josh Hart

Everyone knows it’s McDaniels. Let’s assume it’s not though. Who else is out there, besides maybe Whisenhunt, who is experienced with a proven track record?
