Multiple reports are suggesting that Cleveland Browns assistant general manager Ray Farmer is the leading candidate to replace Jeff Ireland as the Miami Dolphins’ general manager.  The Dolphins recently came to a “mutual agreement” with Ireland to go in a different direction and the organization has been working to take a look at a number of capable candidates.

Farmer was brought in from the Kansas City Chiefs last year to assist Mike Lombardi and is a respected talent evaluator in the NFL.  The man running the search is former Chiefs general manager Carl Peterson, so he knows Farmer from their time there.  It would be a shame to lose him as the Browns can use all of the qualified talent evaluation in Berea they can get.  It is also odd to have someone on the Browns being mentioned as a good front office option for anyone else.

Should Farmer take the job, it will be interesting to see what, if anything, he has to say about the Browns as an organization when he is available to the media in Miami.  Farmer could conceivably offer some insight into the operations of the Browns organization and if he thinks it will progress moving forward.
