According to reports, including Mike Rodak who covers the Buffalo Bills for ESPN, the Cleveland Browns will interview Mike Pettine, their defensive coordinator.  Pettine is 47 and fits the age of coaches the Browns have talked to much of this process.

For the Bills, Pettine was able to put together a good defense in a few key spots.  The defensive line made up of players like Marcel Dareus, Mario Williams, Kyle Williams and Alan Branch led the league in sacks.  They also had the Defensive Rookie of the Year in middle linebacker Kiko Alonso.

Pettine runs a hybrid defense that uses 3-4 and 4-3 concepts, which is similar to what Ray Horton did for the Browns last year.  He used a number of different looks which could work with what the Browns want to do with the members of their defensive unit.

Although the Browns have largely been expected to hire an offensive coach, they have interviewed a few other defensive coordinators including Todd Bowles, who withdrew his name from consideration and Dan Quinn of the Seattle Seahawks.
