Browns: Josh Gordon could be facing season long suspension

According to a report from Outside the Lines of ESPNCleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon could be facing a year long suspension for a positive drug test for marijuana.  When reached for comment, Gordon said:  “That’s something you’re going to have to talk to [agent] Drew Rosenhaus about. I really don’t know anything about it.”  Rosenhaus refused to comment, but simply said the report was “not true”.

Gordon was suspended without pay for a couple of games last season due to a positive drug test and has not gone a year dating back to high school without a drug related issue.  The Browns took a calculated risk in keeping Gordon and not trading him, which led to the receiver having the best season of any receiver in the NFL last year.  This could prove to have backfired if this proves to be true.

This reports less than 24 hours after the Browns became the center of attention for drafting Johnny Manzielthe quarterback from Texas A&M, who at one point, Gordon had pointed out by name as someone he wanted the team to draft.  While this is merely a report, OTL’s track record is fantastic while Gordon has proven anything but reliable and it takes the winds out of the Browns’ sails just as they were feeling good about themselves, selling 2300 season tickets since the pick was announced.

Why was he doing all of those ESPN interviews today talking about Johnny football if he knew that a big suspension was coming his way? Makes no sense. Also, why wouldn’t browns take Watkins at 4 if they knew his status was in jeopardy? Say it isn’t so josh!!!

Just a smoke screen my friends!!

If this is true, we will lose a #1 pick next year as we attempt to trade for a 2nd or 3rd round talent.
This will also dictate our 2nd-round pick tonight.
Jordan Mathews, Marquise Lee, or other instead of Carlos Hyde.
Incredibly selfish actions by a sick young man.
Gordon wants to do right, be right, but he needs help.
The Browns can never again count on him.
Greg Little is back in the picture, but he is no replacement.

      Joe!

Like I said! It’s just a smoke screen!! How convenient for this to happen in January and it to appear today before round 2 begins…… Very interesting!

  • Gary

Browns should have taken Watkins at no. 4. Dumb move that is going to hurt if this is true about Gordon.
And they also let 3 other very good receivers go right on by in the draft.
Big disappointment, and the season hasn’t even begun.
