Report: Ed Dickson, Browns Target, Back to Panthers

The Cleveland Browns have interest in a number of tight ends. One of which, Ed Dickson, seemed like an interesting fit with his ability to block and high level athleticism. His limited ability to catch the football creates a ton of concerns but the Browns were reportedly interested in him none the less.

According to a report he is heading back to the Carolina Panthers:

Dickson would have filled another in-line tight end role for the Browns, joining Jim Dray and Gary Barnidge who are likely to be back with the team. The Browns were unlikely to break the bank for him, given his limitations but had some interest.

More from Dawg Pound Daily

In John DeFilippo’s system he looks for two tight ends, one as mostly an in-line blocker and one as the move tight end. The move tight end is going to get more attention and cost more money for his ability to catch the ball. The Browns have the two in-line guys but there is not a lot of tight end options for the other position in either free agency or the NFL Draft.

Dickson is a name many know but not someone who the Browns were likely to put a lot of time and money into. The Panthers keep one of their own that they like to go with Greg Olsen, their move tight end.

Back to the drawing board for the Browns at the tight end position.
