The Cleveland Browns could be looking to add to their rushing attack by adding a fullback in the upcoming 2015 NFL Draft. According to Dan Duggan of NJ.com, University of Rutgers fullback draft prospect Michael Burton will visit the Browns in Berea on Friday. According to his official Rutgers bio, the Long Valley, New Jersey native started his career with the Scarlet Knights as a running back before being converted to a fullback before his redshirt freshman season. During Burton’s tenure with Rutgers he was named to  several academic accolades to include: Big East All-Academic Football Team (redshirt sophomore), American Athletic Conference All-Academic Football Team (redshirt junior), and the Big Ten All-Academic team (redshirt senior).

Burton who measured 5’11” and 242 pounds at the NFL Combine, isn’t exactly turning many heads thus far during the draft process in terms of national pundits. But Burton is definitely on several teams radars to include the Cincinnati Bengals, who met with Burton the night before the Scarlet Knights pro day back on March the 11th. Burton is also scheduled to participate in pro days hosted by the New York Giants (April 9th) and the New York Jets (April 10).

Some national pundits have him going undrafted and others are higher on him to include Mike Mayock who spoke about Burton performance at the combine.

"“There are two things I like. One, if you’re going to be a fullback in the NFL, you have to be a tough guy. And he is a tough guy, and he’s been a lead blocker, I think he also catches the football and that’s important. I don’t really care about him as a runner, but he’s got to be able on play-action to sneak out in the flat and catch it, which he does.” – Mike Mayock"

The allure of Burton going undrafted may be one of the key reason the Browns are honing in on the fullback from Rutgers. If the Browns can get a key player and not spend a draft pick then they will do it, the Browns successfully did this last year with Isaiah Crowell and Taylor Gabriel. The Browns sound like they may have some competition for Burton but if given the opportunity to land a player that fits the scheme they will do what’s necessary to succeed.
