Madden Ratings: Joe Haden snubbed

facebooktwitterreddit

I think we all could agree that Joe Haden is one of the best players at his position, right? I don’t think you have to a be Cleveland Browns pom-pom waver, to understand just how good he really is.

More from Dawg Pound Daily

Well, the creators of EA Sports’ ‘Madden 16’, thought differently when they created their player ratings. Periodically, they have been releasing the top five position by position player ratings on their website.

They decided that Haden was no longer worthy of the title as a top five cornerback. Listing newcomers, as well as names that we all expected:

  1. Richard Sherman – 97 overall
  2. Darrelle Revis – 97 overall
  3. Vontae Davis – 95 overall
  4. Chris Harris Jr. – 94 overall
  5. Sean Smith – 91 overall

In last year’s game, Haden was listed as a 95 overall, and with Smith listed as the game’s fifth best cornerback at a 91 overall, Haden’s Madden stock looks to take a huge plunge from last season.

His overall hasn’t yet been released, but all we know is that it has dropped at least five points.

What would make anyone want to downgrade his overall that severely? He made the Pro Bowl last season, and was ranked by the players as the 23rd best player in the game today. I guess those accomplishes lead to a decline in rating? Confusing.

Over the course of a season, the people at EA Sports do fluctuate players overall’s depending on their play on the field, so chances are Haden’s overall will only increase with good play, but this is still a head scratcher.

With Joe Thomas as the highest ranked player for the Browns in this year’s game – at a 95 overall – this isn’t looking like a team you want to play against someone with. If somehow, Haden is a 90 overall or lower, I could only imagine what everyone else on the roster is going to receive.

Tip: play with any other team, besides the Browns this year in Madden.
