The NFL Draft is not always kind to the Cleveland Browns, but here are five times they got it right in the second round.

The Cleveland Browns are no strangers to draft missteps, especially when it comes to the first round.

Since 2011 the Browns have selected eight players in the first round of the NFL Draft and only four of them remain with the team.

But while the first round has been an adventure, the Browns have actually fared quite well in the second round – with the obvious exception of the 2009 draft, where former head coach Eric Mangini butchered the round by selecting Brian Robiskie, Mohamed Massaquoi and David Veikune rather than players like LeSean McCoy, Andy Levitre and Sebastian Vollmer.

Since that fateful day, however, the Browns have used the second round to their advantage, selecting safety T.J. Ward, defensive end Jabaal Sheard, and offensive linemen Mitchell Schwartz and Joel Bitonio. They’ve drafted Kevin Johnson, Dennis Northcutt and D’Qwell Jackson in the second round, all productive players.

With the 2016 NFL Draft coming up next week, and yet another new Browns regime hoping to jumpstart yet another rebuild through the draft, let’s take a look back at the five best second-round picks in franchise history.
