The Cleveland Cavaliers are playing in the NBA Finals while the Cleveland Browns continue to be the least successful team in the city.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are looking to bring the city of Cleveland its first title since the Cleveland Browns won the NFL Championship in 1964.

It is hard to believe the Browns were the last championship team in Cleveland, but the fact that it was before the existence of the Super Bowl illustrates just how long ago that was.

The Cavaliers are Cleveland’s best shot since the 1997 Cleveland Indians, but it will not be easy against the Golden State Warriors.

Watching the Cavaliers go to consecutive NBA Finals is great as a Cleveland sports fan, but tough as a Browns fan.

The Cavaliers were lucky to be in a position to draft LeBron James, but the turnaround from having an early draft pick to ending up in the NBA Finals shows the purpose of draft order in professional sports.

The Cavaliers had the top pick and used it wisely on a player who has changed the landscape of the league.

The Browns pick in the top ten of the NFL Draft so often it seems like the organization forgot the purpose of the draft was to get players that will make the team better.

First round busts have become more of the norm, with success stories such as Joe Haden and Joe Thomas being a rare occurrence.

This makes the thought of the Browns reaching the Super Bowl seem insane. A playoff berth still seems years away, while a winning season in 2016 would come as a major surprise.

The goal of every NFL team is to win a Super Bowl, but the Browns are in no position to even begin thinking of reaching that goal any time soon. While the Cavaliers were expected to reach the NBA Finals once again, the Browns have decided to start over.

The key for Browns fans is to be patient, which is getting much harder to do after years of losing seasons. And it’s not just the fact the team has done bad, but the fact the organization has been such a mess is what makes it so hard to have any optimism regarding the team.

Football is a much different sport than basketball, so no one player can come to the Browns and be the savior, but several players can. By building through the draft and developing the players drafted, the Browns can begin to use the model that makes teams like the Pittsburgh Steelers and New England Patriots such successful franchises.

The Cavaliers have a chance to bring Cleveland the title the city deserves, while the Browns are in the midst of a rebuild. The season may be a tough one, but the play of this year’s draft picks should be a sign of how soon the Browns will be able to be like the Cavaliers and compete for a championship.
