The Cleveland Browns and Robert Griffin III have a football game to focus on, but fans can have a good laugh with some RG3 memorabilia that is up for auction.

While the Cleveland Browns and Robert Griffin III are preparing for Friday night’s preseason opener against the Green Bay Packers, an item signed by Griffin is being auctioned off online.

No it is not a football or even a helmet. It’s a frying pan. Yes, the NFL had the fantastic idea to have Griffin sign a pan and put it up on NFL Auction.

The tweet above says the item is going for just $1, but that was when the bidding began. As of 8 p.m. ET on Thursday night, the highest bid is now $51 with ten more days before the bidding closes.

Who knows how high this item may go for? Perhaps Griffin himself is putting in some anonymous bids to drive the price up, or maybe signed frying pans are some sort of niche, underground market.

The site even offers a picture of the pan’s certificate of authenticity, so fans know this isn’t some imposter frying pan signed by some other Robert Griffin III.

The uses of such a pan range from casually cooking some eggs to showing up at the Muni Lot and worshipping it like some sort of divine, Jobu-like good luck charm. The latter sounds much better.

This particular auction may seem foolish, but the proceeds do go to charity so it is more than just a fun publicity stunt. Spending several hundred dollars on a frying pan one can’t use is foolish, but at least someone is benefitting from the purchase.

This item can be yours by following the link shared earlier in the post and posting a bid, or you can forget you saw this and just focus on the football game Friday. The choice is yours, but be on the lookout, because one of your friends may text you in excitement about the new pan they won online.
