Daily Dawg Tags: Browns should consider Tyrod Taylor
The Cleveland Browns are looking for an upgrade at the quarterback position, and should at least consider signing Tyrod Taylor.
The Cleveland Browns once again have options when it comes to the quarterback position.
A rookie can be acquired through the draft, a player can be traded for, a free agent can be signed, or the team can stay put and go with the current guys on the roster.
The last option doesn’t seem realistic given all the rumors surrounding the Browns, so fans should expect a new face to lead the team onto the field in 2017.
One option to consider is Tyrod Taylor, who had a solid season for the Buffalo Bills in 2016. Rex Ryan gave him a chance and although Taylor wasn’t great, he would be an upgrade for the Browns.
Fans may prefer to invest in a rookie, but signing a player like Taylor could take away the adjustment period any rookie would have once arriving in the NFL.
This is not to say the Browns should invest heavily in Taylor, but a one or two-year deal for a quarterback with starting experience wouldn’t be a horrible option for a team that is still years away from making the playoffs. Taylor could hold down the position while the rest of the roster is improved.
Doing this still allows the Browns to draft a quarterback, who would have time to learn the game on the sidelines instead of being thrust into action right away.
