The Cleveland Browns have not yet reached a deal with Terrelle Pryor, but fans should expect the two sides to come to a long-term agreement.

Much of the focus surrounding the Cleveland Browns has to do with April’s NFL Draft, but there are still some other things to take care of before then.

The main thing the Browns must do soon is re-sign Terrelle Pryor, who is currently a free agent. The team can place the franchise tag on Pryor, but that does not seem to be the plan, according to Mary Kay Cabot of cleveland.com.

Cabot’s article explains how the Browns want to reach a long-term deal with Pryor, with the receiver also saying he wants to remain a Brown.

"“I have no problem with, just because we were 1-15 or whatever this year, coming back,” he said. “I don’t mind starting fresh next year and continuing to grow, because I think it’s more exciting when you’re on the bottom. I’m always citing starting from the bottom and getting to the top, and I think it’s a greater feeling and it would be great to give Cleveland what they’re looking for.”"

"Pryor, who eclipsed 1,000 yards in the season finale against his hometown Steelers, doesn’t know exactly where things stands, but he told the Rosenhaus brothers that this is where he wants to be."

This is a great sign for Browns fans, who got to enjoy Pryor’s breakout season in 2016. Losing him in free agency would only set the Browns back further in a year when there will hopefully be some improvement on the field.

The key will be to find a deal that is beneficial for the Browns, while also not being way too far under Pryor’s market value. Cabot’s article explains how that number is around $9 million per year. That figure isn’t too bad for a team with over $100 million in cap space in 2017.

While Pryor may not have been a great number one receiver all season, he proved that he is still good enough to warrant the Browns wanting him in town for the long haul. Remember, Corey Coleman was brought in to be the number one receiver, which may happen in 2017 if he is able to stay healthy.

The main thing that should impress fans about Pryor is his commitment to making the Browns a great team. He consistently showed passion both on and off the field, and was vocally upset with the team’s performance throughout the season. Some fans may take issue with how he expressed his emotions, but he was clearly one of the players who cared the most about winning last season. That type of passion should be kept in Cleveland.

Cabot’s article seems to point at a Pryor return in 2017, and hopefully well beyond.
