A recent article on ESPN.com forecasts the likelihood of each team drafting a quarterback, and has the Cleveland Browns drafting one early.

The Cleveland Browns are in need of a franchise quarterback. This is known.

That means the 2017 NFL Draft may not be one where fans are wondering if the Browns will take a quarterback early, but when.

The Browns own five of the first 65 picks, including three of the first 33. If a quarterback is going to be taken, it will likely be within the first 33 picks of the draft.

A recent article on ESPN.com looked at every  NFL team and the likelihood of each drafting a quarterback. Pat McManamon of ESPN.com had this to say about the Browns:

"The Browns absolutely will draft a quarterback. It won’t be with their first pick, but the Browns will take a quarterback either 12th or 33rd — and if they don’t, it will be a shock. Whether it’s Mitch Trubisky or Deshaun Watson at No. 12 or Patrick Mahomes II or Davis Webb at No. 33, the Browns must leave this draft with a quarterback to add something to a position of great need."

He is right, because if the team passes on a quarterback with its first three picks, fans will be in shock of the fact they are accepting a full season with Cody Kessler and Brock Osweiler. Some fans are just fine with that, but it would still be a surprise given the amount of picks the team has.

There are even recent rumors that Mitch Trubisky could be in play with the No. 1 overall pick, and as crazy as it may sound, I wouldn’t put anything past the Browns.

But based on McManamon’s prediction of taking a quarterback early, it likely means that one of Trubisky, Pat Mahomes, Deshaun Watson or DeShone Kizer will be suiting up in a Browns uniform next season.

Trubisky is the early favorite, if the rumors are true, but it would be the shock of the decade if he was taken No. 1 overall.

But as I said, don’t ever put anything past the Browns.
