Olivier Vernon was traded to the Cleveland Browns this offseason and he seems to be excited about his new home, saying he’s ‘ready to get it rolling’

This offseason, the Cleveland Browns added two talented players in separate trades with the New York Giants. The one getting the most attention was the second of the two trades which gave the Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham, Jr.

While this one was the blockbuster deal of the offseason, the first exchange between Cleveland and New York should also have a big impact on the upcoming season.

Defensive end Olivier Vernon was added in exchange for guard Kevin Zeitler. While that was a high price to pay, Vernon brings some veteran leadership to the defensive line as well as a knack for pressuring the quarterback.

Fresh off his first career Pro Bowl, Vernon will line up opposite Myles Garrett, giving the Browns their most dangerous pair of edge rushers in recent memory. While fans are excited to see how that will end up looking, Vernon is also ready to get rolling as he as said he knows what the plan is for this team and appreciates that vision.

"“I know what I bring to the table. You know? They say you’re going to get what you pay for. So you’re going to get what you traded for, and I’m glad to be here. I’m glad to be embraced by this organization. They want me here, and I’m just ready to get it rolling.” — Vernon said via Grant Gordon of NFL.com"

Vernon went on to stress execution, saying that the Browns have the talent to be a great team as long as they all manage to do their jobs correctly.

While the 28-year old is focused on what he and the defense can bring to the table, he’s also happy to have his former New York teammate with him in Cleveland. Vernon was unaware at the time his trade was announced that OBJ would be moved but was thrilled to find out later they would remain teammates.

In addition to Vernon and OBJ, the Browns also added free agent Sheldon Richardson to help them take the next step following a 5-3 finish to 2018. They’ve come a long way in just over a year and the players, even newcomers such as Vernon, are as ready as anyone to see where this thing goes next.
