On October 13, 2008, Derek Anderson played the best football game of his professional career. He dominated the defending Super Bowl Champion New York Giants to the tune of 310 yards passing and 2 TDs, in front of a national TV audience. The Browns won 35-14 in the surprising blowout on Monday Night.
Anderson then went on to have an awful season. He lost the starting QB job a month later and finished the season on injured reserve. The Browns finished with a 4-12 record.
So October 13 should serve as a whispering reminder for fans: Everyone at the NFL level has the [...]

According to Bloomberg, Eric Mangini has 3-2 odds of being fired after the season. That is the best odds among all NFL head coaches. Interestingly, Mangini’s counterpart in today’s final game of the season at home against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Jack Del Rio, is also at relatively good odds to be canned: 4-1. The Jags sit at 7-8 and have a very outside chance of making the playoffs as an AFC wild card team, but only with an awful lot of help around the League. The Cleveland Browns are starting to show some heart and perseverance. We won our second straight game today to move to three wins on the season. Cleveland beat the Chiefs at Kansas City, 41-34.
Two Browns had extraordinary days. Josh Cribbs returned two kickoffs for touchdowns. Josh now has eight kick returns for touchdowns in his career – an NFL record. Jerome Harrison ran for 286 yards and three scores, including the game-winner. Jerome beat Jim Brown’s team record for most rushing yards in a game (237) set way back in 1961. Harrison’s tally is the third highest in NFL history.

Believe it or not, there is some optimism floating around in Cleveland, especially with the improvements the team has shown on offense. Some would even go so far to say that Brady Quinn is establishing a presence as a leader on this team.
The Pittsburgh Steelers, the Browns’ opponent tonight, are on a four-game losing streak and are on the brink of not being able to defend their title.
Some might also say that a win by the Browns will go a long way in letting coach Eric Mangini keep his job. But will it actually happen? Can the Browns actually beat [...]
The Browns still have just one win this season, but at least we made a game of it Sunday against the red hot San Diego Chargers. We lost by a touchdown against a Team that has won 7 straight games, leads its division and has become invincible in the month of December.
The game made some history as LT scored his 150th touchdown and rushed for enough yards to vault him ahead of Cleveland Browns’ legend, Jim Brown (who was at the game), to eighth place overall in NFL rushing history. LT reached the 150 TDs mark faster than anyone else ever has.

The Browns fell to 1-10, still tied for the worst record in the NFL, after losing 16-7 at Cincy yesterday. The good news is that Cleveland beat the betting point spread, and thus, I made a few bucks off my buddy (which I promptly had to return after his Bills shocked the Dolphis to win at Orchard Park).
The recipe this time for the Browns losing at Paul Brown Stadium? Zero run defense and very little offense = a loss, pretty much every time (except on ocassion against the Bills who thankfully gave us our only win of the campaign).
Statistically on [...]
I am sure that every Browns fan, hell every football fan, was sratching his head after today’s thrilling game at Ford Field in Detroit between our hapless Brownies and the pathetic Lions. It was probably the most exciting game of the day (which says a lot given that two others were decided in overtime).
Amazingly, the Browns found a way to lose thanks to massive brain cramps by two people: Hank Poteat and Eric Mangini. Poteat was called for pass interference on what should have been the final play of the football game to give our Browns their second win of [...]
If the Browns want to have any hope of winning today, they will need the services of Joshua Cribbs. In a game like this, a player like Cribbs can single-handedly win the game with his far-reaching influence on the field. Lucky for Cleveland, he is active and will play after suffering a neck injury last Monday night.
Remember wide receiver Brian Robiskie? Well, he has been deactivated, along with running back Jerome Harrison. I guess it doesn’t come as much of a surprise that Robiskie has been deactivated – his situation has been managed terribly since the start of the season. Harrison [...]
So quarterback Brady Quinn is once again the starting quarterback of the Cleveland Browns. He has taken the place of Derek Anderson, who has been benched in part because his passer rating of 36.3 is the lowest for an NFL quarterback through eight weeks of a season since 1981. You can say he has been plagued by dropped passes and fumbles by receivers, but Anderson has looked nothing short of awful in every possible way. Any Anderson supporter at this point cannot say he was not given a fair chance with this team.
It is now hopefully time to see what [...]
Another week, another horrendous loss. So goes the season, and plenty of others before it, for the Cleveland Browns. Every week there seems to be something new to scratch one’s head at in complete disbelief.
This time, it is the misuse of the the Wildcat formation. Eric Mangini has said that the Browns probably could have used the Wildcat more in Sunday’s 31-3 loss to the Green Bay Packers. The Browns only used it once on Sunday for a grand total of 1 yard. Even Josh Cribbs was surprised at how the coaching staff apparently just forgot the Wildcat existed.
Here’s a [...]
