My friends and I came of age in a somewhat Brownsless world. They played their final season before the unmerciful move to Baltimore when I was in the ninth grade. At that time, pretty much everyone growing up in Cleveland was totally consumed with the magic of the Jacobs Field-era Indians. The Cavs were horrible. By the time the Browns were back, we had graduated high school and moved away. I look back now and realize my high school time was probably the prime of my sports consumption abilities. I was old enough to work a summer job and drive myself [...]

Remember Brady Quinn? Sure you do – he was one of the many quarterbacks who have come through Cleveland since 1999, only to flame out for a myriad of reasons and attempt to fix their careers in other cities. Quinn was dealt to the Denver Broncos in March of 2010 in what has been one of the best trades in Cleveland Browns history, as the team received running back Peyton Hillis in return. Denver surely thought they could be getting something out of Quinn, but decided to draft Tim Tebow instead. With Kyle Orton on the roster as well, that pushed Quinn all [...]
In case you needed some clarification about the Browns’ Super Bowl chances in 2011, here it is: Cleveland is currently sitting at 80/1 odds to win Super Bowl XLVI in 2012. Needless to say, the Browns are longshots to win it all this season. That may seem like a grim outlook, but enjoy this, Browns fans: the oddsmakers think highly enough of the Browns to put two teams (the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks) with the same 80/1 odds and four teams with even longer odds to win the next Super Bowl. Best of all, the Browns’ in-state rival, the [...]
Have you been wondering what NFL players have been up to during the lockout? Believe it or not, they’re not all just enjoying the prolonged vacation like Reggie Bush. Some of them actually want to play, and they’ll go just about anywhere to do so. In this case, it’s in a very familiar setting. Check out the new sketch from Funny or Die, called “Field of Dreams 2: NFL Lockout with Taylor Lautner.” Field of Dreams 2: NFL Lockout with Taylor Lautner from Taylor Lautner
The NFL Network recently completed its Top 100 Players of 2011 countdown, with the usual cast of characters – Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Adrian Peterson, etc. – dominating the top spots. But how about the rest of the 100? For the Cleveland Browns, two of the team’s players made the list – left tackle Joe Thomas at #43 and multi-position extraordinaire Josh Cribbs at #84. Here’s how the Browns’ division rivals stacked up: the Baltimore Ravens accumulated six players, the Pittsburgh Steelers accumulated four players, while the Cincinnati Bengals had only one player (Terrell Owens) on the list.
In case you don’t follow WR Carlton Mitchell on Twitter, stop reading and do so immediately. We’ll wait… Alright now that you have done so, we can move on. Mitchell was featured on ESPN First Take today, and provided some humor and how the lockout has affected him. Take a look below. Carlton Mitchell – ESPN First Take (June 30, 11)
In an interview with CNBC’s Darren Rovell, Nike Brand President Charlie Denson talked about Nike’s plans for NFL teams’ uniforms next season. Denson said that the company was ”going to be aggressive…some teams are willing to go further than others.” I don’t know about you, but I’m crossing my fingers that the Browns are one of the teams unwilling to make drastic changes that would put them on the path to adopting uniforms that belong on teams from a outlandishly fake league in a crappy football movie. It might work for Oregon, but the over/under on fans gouging out their eyes at [...]
