The Remote Report: Cleveland Browns Special Teams (A Report Card)

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

You might be thinking to yourself, “Didn’t he say last time that the next article would be about the offense?” or “Why would someone write a report card on the special teams?” or even “Hey, that guy’s handsome, let’s cut him some slack.” First of all, thank you. Second of all, you’re right to wonder, and the answer is that I can’t bring myself to get sad and write about the ineptitude of the Browns’ offense, so I’ll instead write about something more fun: the Browns’ special teams unit. The good news is that kicker Phil Dawson is still around. [...]

Do Cleveland Browns Fans Still Resent Bill Belichick?

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

While Browns fans are likely celebrating the fact that the Baltimore Ravens once again missed out on a chance to go to the Super Bowl, there is still a major Cleveland connection in this year’s game that might ruffle some feathers. It comes in the form of former Cleveland Browns head coach Bill Belichick, who will be going to yet another Super Bowl as head coach of the New England Patriots. The argument over whether fans should still be bitter about the success of the Ravens still rages on, so it begs the question: is anyone out there still bitter over [...]

The Remote Report: Let Go of Your Feelings Toward the Ravens

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns | COMMENTS: 8 Comments

If there’s one thing a Cleveland Browns fan knows, it’s spite. We fans carry spite in all kinds of ways towards all kinds of groups, people, and locations. As such, watching the Baltimore Ravens in the playoffs tends to bring up some unpleasant emotions from Browns fans. But not from me. On the one hand, it does sting my pride a little bit to know that the team Cleveland used to have has become a perennial contender less than a decade after skipping town on Art Modell’s tab. But the fact of the matter is that the Ravens aren’t the Browns. [...]

What Disappointed You Most About the Browns’ Loss to the Ravens?

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns, Polls | COMMENTS: 5 Comments

The young Cleveland Browns took another team to the brink of an upset on Saturday, but, as has been the case with so many games this season, they doomed themselves with mistakes and an inability to score touchdowns when it counts. Whether it was the poor clock management at the end of the first half or rookie defensive tackle Phil Taylor’s mental error at the end of the game, there is no denying that the Browns sabotaged themselves in a bid to beat the Ravens in Baltimore. But, as always, the most disappointing thing of all might just be that [...]

Mistakes Once Again Doom Browns in 20-14 Loss to Baltimore Ravens

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Cleveland Browns have truly been their own worst enemy this season. Critical errors at crucial times have been their downfall in a number of games, and it was no different on Saturday, as the Browns blundered their way to a 20-14 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. This time, it was two particular plays that helped lead the Browns to a loss: 1) At the end of the first half, with less than a minute remaining, the Browns offense looked apathetic getting to the line of scrimmage and confusion set in with 13 seconds left, as quarterback Seneca Wallace took it [...]

Can the Cleveland Browns Beat the Arizona Cardinals?

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns, Gameday, Polls | COMMENTS: None Yet

Believe it or not, this match-up against the Arizona Cardinals gives the Cleveland Browns their best chance for a win before the end of the season. With the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers jockeying for playoff positions, and the Browns dealing with injuries to significant players, beating either one of those teams will be a huge struggle. With quarterback Kevin Kolb out and a defense that gives up a lot of yards, the Browns certainly have a chance. They can beat the Cardinals, but will they?

Will the Cleveland Browns Win Another Game This Season?

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Cleveland Browns are limping to the finish line of the season, as has been the case with so many of their teams from the past. And just like those teams, the starting quarterback at the beginning of the season might not be able to finish the year. The team currently sits at 4-9, heading into Arizona on Sunday to take on the surging Cardinals, who still have a shot at making the playoffs. After that, the Browns once again go into an AFC North buzzsaw, playing the Ravens in Baltimore and the Pittsburgh Steelers at home. With quarterback Colt McCoy [...]

The Remote Report: Would a Loss to the Steelers Actually Surprise You?

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns | COMMENTS: None Yet

I wrote before that I am personally excited by the idea that Colt McCoy isn’t unanimously despised while he starts at quarterback for the Browns, and how that’s a mild improvement. I don’t understand why there was such an uproar after he got worked over by a team that has had the best defense in football for the last decade. Was anyone actually surprised by that? If yes, have you ever seen the Baltimore Ravens or the Browns before? It seems only appropriate to mention all of this because the Browns are playing the Steelers mid-week (you know, the other best defense [...]

Expect Browns QB Colt McCoy to Play Against Pittsburgh Steelers

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns, Quarterback Drama | COMMENTS: None Yet

Cleveland Browns quarterback Colt McCoy has no doubt taken his lumps this season. Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens was one of his biggest beatings of the year, as he was sacked three times and sustained a right knee injury that knocked him out of the game (but just for one play). Luckily for McCoy, there was no structural damage to his knee. Unfortunately for him, though, is the short week for recovery, and the Pittsburgh Steelers looming on Thursday night. One would understand if McCoy wasn’t able to play on Thursday – he’s become well acquainted with the turf this [...]

Want to Build a Team? Look to the Baltimore Ravens for the Blueprint

AUTHOR: | IN: Browns | COMMENTS: None Yet

In the middle of the first quarter of Sunday afternoon’s game against the Baltimore Ravens, a stat flashed across the screen that illuminated the kind of season the Ravens’ Ray Rice has been having: he’s the only running back in the NFL with 700-plus rushing yards and 500-plus receiving yards. A third-round pick out of Rutgers, the Ravens’ star tailback represents everything that has eluded the Browns over the past ten years: depth that stems from good drafting. Successful teams aren’t built through free agency, a fact that any Washington Redskins fan can tell you. The league’s perennial contenders – [...]
