What a nice way to cap off the week for Brady Quinn, eh? Not only did he prove he couldn’t keep a deep pass inbounds on Monday night, he knocked Terrell Suggs out possibly for a few weeks because of a chop-block. To top it all off, Quinn was fined $10,000 by the league for the hit.
It’s funny to me though, that the Baltimore Ravens players were so adamant that Quinn be punished for injuring Suggs, much of the complaining coming from our old friend Ray Lewis. Quinn was a man about it and apologized after the game, reiterating that he did [...]

So quarterback Brady Quinn is once again the starting quarterback of the Cleveland Browns. He has taken the place of Derek Anderson, who has been benched in part because his passer rating of 36.3 is the lowest for an NFL quarterback through eight weeks of a season since 1981. You can say he has been plagued by dropped passes and fumbles by receivers, but Anderson has looked nothing short of awful in every possible way. Any Anderson supporter at this point cannot say he was not given a fair chance with this team.
It is now hopefully time to see what [...]
Joe Barnes of FanSided’s very own Ebony Bird and Matt Sadler of a Baltimore sports blog called Right Off Russell were nice enough to answer a few questions about the Browns-Ravens game:
The Ravens currently have one of the best offenses in the NFL, and Joe Flacco obviously has a lot to do with that success. What adjustments has he made in his second season to improve upon that impressive rookie campaign?
Joe: The one obvious difference you can see in Flacco is his poise in the pocket, meaning he gained more confidence in his offensive line and his receivers since last [...]
Running back Jamal Lewis is going to be questionable for Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens after injuring his hamstring against Denver. Not that high hopes were really flying for the Browns in this one, but this obviously will not help at all. Through two games, Lewis’ backups – James Davis and Jerome Harrison – have combined for 13 yards on seven carries.
The Ravens have the league’s top-ranked rush defense, allowing just 41 rushing yards per game, and the Browns’ offensive line – particularly the right side of it – has been getting dominated so far this season. Not having [...]
While the Browns wait to talk more with current Ravens’ director of pro personnel George Kokinis, they continue to interview candidates for the vacant general manager position – the man being interviewed this time is James “Shack” Harris. Harris was last seen as the vice president of player personnel for the Jaguars, but he resigned last month after heavily stinking up the Jacksonville air by signing stiffs like WR Joey Porter and CB Drayton Florence to free agent contracts that added up to be about $23 million in guaranteed money. Needless to say, the dude’s not getting the job.
Also, I [...]
I, like many Browns fans, have this dreaded nightmare every season (the Browns season is usually just a nightmare in itself) – that both the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens would not only both make the playoffs, but be the last two AFC teams standing. Which makes the AFC Championship game virtually unwatchable, as it is a guarantee now that one of the two teams that I detest with the most vigor will be going to the Super Bowl. Under normal circumstances, I am bothered by Pittsburgh’s or Baltimore’s lone occasional trips to the this game and the [...]

Is anyone having déjà vu [...]
There’s nothing better than a good case of “he said this, he said that” antics to make an organization look foolish. And that is exactly what has happened to the Browns lately with their handling of TE Kellen Winslow’s staph infection. It’s a long story, and it doesn’t quite add up, so I would imagine Phil Savage and the organization have something else to hide, most likely some form of shoddy communication between them and their Pro Bowl tight end. Nevertheless, Winslow is back from his one-game suspension (any coincidence though that Steve Heiden had three receptions for 73 yards?) [...]
I found this story on The Ebony Bird, the Baltimore Ravens blog in the Fan-Sided universe. It comes from an article in which Jamal Lewis, the Browns’ current running back, discusses the offensive weapons, or lack thereof, surrounding him when he was playing in Baltimore. What is most interesting is the fact that Jarrett, the blogger over at TEB, pretty much backs up what Lewis gripes about, even when he had this to say:
“Now I’m with a better team, I’m around better players, and I have help. In the place I was in before, I had no help, so [...]
The Browns signed him to a one-year contract on Thursday, hoping he can complete his comeback with the team. You know, before he had all this trouble with his knees, he was a very solid cornerback, never missing a game because of injury when he played with the Ravens. In 2003, he totaled 101 tackles with three interceptions.
Baxter has been trying to come back for years now, playing five games in 2005, three games in 2006, and none in 2007. What a comeback story he would be, but what will he be able to contribute?
