Derek Anderson Gets the Nod on Sunday; The Bungholes Still Suck
Despite all the clamoring for quarterback Brady Quinn to make his first career start in the NFL, the Browns have decided to stick with Derek Anderson and his second-worst-in-the-league passer rating…for now. I cannot say that I disagree with this move. Let’s give Anderson another shot against the worst franchise in the history of the universe, and if he can’t get it done for a fourth straight game, I think it would be time to mail it in and gear up for the Quinn Era.
My reasoning is that Donte Stallworth, despite being limited in practice this week, should be able to offer up some shred of help for the struggling offense. People seem to forget that Joe Jurevicius is also hurt, leaving a lot on Braylon Edwards and his hands made of polytetrafluoroethene (for those of you not into science, that has been discovered as the most slippery substance in the world). I am not Anderson’s biggest supporter; I have written many an article explaining how the Browns should have traded DA when they had the chance. But this is also not the time for complete panic and a total overhaul…maybe just one more game until that happens.
Another point, which I mentioned before, is that the Browns will be playing a nice little game of football with the Cincinnasty Bungholes, God’s most detestable error. At least let Anderson attempt to get his head on straight by going onto the field against that JV Squad. Speaking of those ex-convicts, the boys over at whodeyfans.com have a particularly strong vendetta against the Brownies, and it ends up being downright laughable. Please, if you have a moment, pity them, and then laugh at their misfortune.
I may be a dedicated Browns fan, subjected to year after year of disappointment, but I am proud of one thing: that I will never be an arrogant, mindless Bengals fan, cheering for a team that is worse off than the Browns. The Bengals = Epic Fails.
Who Dey gonna’ beat this year? Or, if you can’t answer that: Who do the Bengals select with the #1 overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft?
