Could LeBron James Make the Browns the Hot Item in Cleveland?

The impending NBA free agency set to begin later this week has got me thinking.  Now, you’re probably asking yourself, “Why does this matter to a Browns blog?” Just follow me here…

Unless you have been living under a rock or have been avoiding ESPN the past month, then I’m sure you have heard about the NBA free agent class of 2010.  The cream of the crop has to be Ohio’s own LeBron James, and there are a bevy of other great free agents available too. LeBron is basically holding both the city of Cleveland and the Cavaliers hostage by not telling anyone his plans.  The whole situation is frustrating me and reminds me of what Brett Favre pulls EVERY FREAKING YEAR!!! I feel for all of the Packers and Vikings fans out there.

Anyways, after playing out almost every possible scenario through my mind, I got to thinking. Hey, what if LeBron leaves? The Cavs have been the toast of the town the past five years or so, so what’s going to happen to them? Surely, fans won’t be attending games like they have the past couple years.  Plus the Indians aren’t really turning any heads as of late.  Could we see a possible resurgence in Browns fandom? In a town where every other team is seemingly going the wrong direction, the Browns seem poised to start climbing the standings this season.

Now I know it’s still June and there is no guarantee that the Browns will make the playoffs for the next 10 years, but things in Brownstown seem to be looking up.
