Joe Namath on Braylon Edwards: He”Can’t Catch the Ball”
If someone out there rips on former Browns wide receiver Braylon Edwards, we will be there to enjoy it, and then probably write about it. This time, Broadway Joe himself tore into the New York Jets receiver. Legendary quarterback Joe Namath was quoted in the New York Post this week on a number of topics surrounding the Jets. Here’s what he had to say about Edwards:
"“Can’t catch the ball … Or rarely does. He has as many drops as he does catches.”"
Now, if you want some more enjoyment, here is Edwards’ response:
"“That’s his mouth, his words. I really don’t think Mr. Namath knows me. I’m sure he’s never followed me. He’s a Jet guy and I was in Cleveland for five years, and I had one bad season. I’m not going to get into a back-and-forth with Mr. Namath. Too much respect. All I can say is, I don’t think he really knows me. Tell him next time he’s here, stop by my locker and he can tell me that.”"
Once again, Edwards completely misses the point. It’s not that Namath doesn’t like him because he played in Cleveland for five years; it’s because he never lives up to his potential, and that’s putting it nicely. Something tells me Namath would absolutely tell that to Edwards’ face as well.
