It’s Official: Head Coach Pat Shurmur Will Be Calling Offensive Plays

Cleveland Browns head coach Pat Shurmur said Thursday night that he will, in fact, be calling the offensive plays during the 2011 season, provided that there is a 2011 NFL season. Despite the fact that some coaches have been known to call their own plays, it’s not for everyone. Add to the fact that this is Shurmur’s first head coaching gig, and there is certainly some reason for concern.

What is encouraging, however, is the fact that Shurmur addressed the possibility of quarterback Colt McCoy being the starter next season. He said “it’s a logical assumption” that McCoy will be the starter in 2011. That’s a good way to offset the potential doom of an offensive coordinator-less 2011, right?

Right?
