The Cleveland Browns face off with the Baltimore Ravens. We will give you takeaways from each quarter. A huge game for both teams. A win for the Browns sends them into the Bye Week on a roll.

Here are our takeaways, both the obvious and then the less obvious, from the 1st Quarter of Browns Vs. Ravens:

  • Defense getting tons of pressure but Joe Flacco getting passes off.
    • Flacco’s mechanics greatly impacted even though they were completed.
  • Defense holds Ravens to 3 points after long drive.
    • Fans (False Start) and refs letting physical coverage (deep incompletion) key to the stop.
  • Terrance West picks up yards on first 2 carries.
    • Gets hit early but falls forward for a couple yards.
  • Browns get 2 first downs to move the ball close to midfield.
    • Brian Hoyer‘s quick release key on both first down passes.
  • Jordan Cameron‘s return pays dividends early.
    • Taylor Gabriel ran off the defense opening it for Cameron. Kyle Shanhan calls a great game.
  • Huge deep ball from Brian Hoyer to Travis Benjamin for 43 yards.
    • Good run game fake holds the safety and Benjamin’s speed created the space.
  • Terrance West dives over the top for the score.
    • Shanahan’s creative play calling kept defenders honest allowing West to go over the top.
    • Return of Cameron (has to be accounted for) and Joel Bitonio big keys as well.
  • Browns force a 3 and out by the Ravens.
    • Buster Skrine stays true and makes a clean tackle for a small 2 yard gain.
  • Taylor Gabriel got through small space for big first down conversion.
    • Browns speed, on both sides of the ball, changing evident.
  • Penalties back Browns up to 1st and 30 late in the 1st quarter.
    • Miles Austin tries to get away with a push but gets pass interference call.
