Breaking: Josh Gordon Fails Another Drug Test; Banned for Year
Many Cleveland Browns fans have wondered if the team would cut ties with Josh Gordon this summer. Either via trade or just cutting him, most believed they had seen the last of Josh Gordon. According to Adam Schefter’s breaking news Gordon likely just put the final nail in his own coffin:
His one year ban was reduced based on negotiations between the NFL and NFLPA. He lost his appeal. Now he is facing the same year punishment and likely will be suiting up for another team whenever he is actually allowed to play.
Gordon is extremely talented wide receiver but obviously, if this report is true, has not learned to make good decisions. As a licensed counselor (13 years experience), I know that inability to stop an action even with consequences is a sign of a serious issue that needs to be addressed.
Update: According to a report Gordon was tested positive for alcohol. In my experience with doing drug testing for a court system that test must take place within 8 hours of consumption:
Update 2: Here is the statement from the Browns:
"“Clearly we are very disappointed to hear the latest report regarding Josh. At this point, due to the confidential nature of the NFL’s substance abuse policy, we have not been made aware by the league of a failed test. We are in the process of gathering more information and will provide further comment at the appropriate time.”"

If Gordon wants to continue to use substances he is free to do so outside of the NFL. He will just need to figure out what he will do for the rest of his life professionally.
Last year, reports said, that his levels were very low. The NFL still have very low levels for things like marijuana but Gordon, more than anyone else, should be aware of what those levels are.
We will continue to follow this story. Fans will be more and more focused on the Browns drafting a receiver high this year. They also could attack the positional need via free agency where a number of players are available.
