The Browns will likely look for a long term Strong Safety to replace Donte Whitner down the road. Re-signing restricted free Tashaun Gipson is a very high priority for the team. The Browns also will have to replace Jim Leonhard who had an excellent season as a backup before retiring.

Manning has been in the league for 9 years, the last 4 with the Texans. He only played in just under 600 snaps, compared to Gipson’s almost 800 in only 12 games, as the Texans seemed to be phasing him out. Manning would find a good amount of snaps as Pettine likes to play 3 safeties often.

Manning also has a lot of experience as a returner, something the Browns have struggled to figure out as well. Manning won’t get a ton of attention in free agency but a team competing for a playoff spot could lure him.

The Browns could use a veteran this season much the way they did with Leonhard and Manning would be the perfect player.

Other Options: Mike Adams, Antrel Rolle, Will Allen
