The Cleveland Browns will hold their annual Cleveland Browns Blood Drive on Aug. 1 at several locations across Northeast Ohio, the team announced on Tuesday.
All donors who visit one of the donation sites will receive a commemorative Browns First and Ten T-shirt (while they last), and have a chance to win prizes, including memorabilia and a pair of tickets to one of the team’s preseason friendlies – Aug. 13 against Washington or Aug. 20 against Buffalo.
Appointments are recommended for the drive, which will benefit the American Red Cross. To make an appointment, call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or visit redcrossblood.org and enter the sponsor code Browns to schedule a time.
Since the franchise held is first blood drive, the event has collected more than 8,200 pints of blood, potentially impacting more than 24,000 patients in Northeast Ohio. Summer is an especially important time to donate blood, as many donors are on vacation making it difficult to college enough blood needed to meet the needs of hospitals.

“Adding blood or platelet donation to a vacation to-do list can mean so much to patients and their families,” said Christy Peters, External Communications Manager, Northern Ohio Blood Services Region. “It’s a simple act, taking as little as an hour, but can touch many lives.”
Blood donors with all types, especially O negative, A negative and B negative, and platelet donors are needed.
In addition to the blood drive, the American Red Cross is a partner of the Browns First and Ten movement, which asks fans globally to commit at least 10 hours of community service a year. Fans can receive their official orange #give10 wristband at any of the drive sites as part of the blood drive.
