Kansas City could be the perfect situation for Johnny Manziel, as the Chiefs could be the Green Bay Packers to Manziel’s Brett Favre.

After infamously trying to “drink up Atlanta,” Favre was sent to the anti-party town of Green Bay, focused on football, and went on to win the NFL’s Most Valuable Player award three times and became a Super Bowl champion.

The stars might not quite align like that for Manziel in Kansas City, but it would be a great place for him to similarly focus on football. He would be away from the bright lights and in a very stable organization. He would be under no pressure to play immediately either, as Alex Smith is established as their quarterback. A great professional, Smith would also be a strong role model for Manziel.

Head coach Andy Reid is known as somebody willing to give players with checkered pasts a second chance, most famously having done so with Michael Vick, who Reid signed to the Philadelphia Eagles after Vick was released from prison for his involvement in a dog fighting ring. In addition, Reid he was a member of Mike Holmgren’s staff in Green Bay when they traded for Favre and served as Favre’s quarterback coach when he won his third MVP.

Reid may view Manziel as a similar wayward talent worth taming.
