Tashuan Gipson

Age: 25

Experience: 4 years

Contract status: Free agent 2016

Tashaun Gipson had a breakout year in 2014, posting a career high six interceptions and securing his first Pro Bowl appearance despite missing the final five games due to injury.

The Browns and Gipson tried to work out a longterm deal prior to the 2015 season, but the team ultimately gave Gipson a second-round tender, which while paying him more than $2 million for one season also made him an unrestricted free agent for 2016.

In his contract year Gipson wasn’t the same ball hawking and playmaking safety as a season before, but he should still be a priority for the Browns. Gipson saw his interception total drop from six to just two in 2015. However, Gipson will play a major role in Ray Horton’s defensive scheme and, at his age and talent, the Browns must secure their young Pro Bowl talent safety.

2016 Outlook:

If the Browns can resign Gipson it would be a huge victory for the team. Gipson has great ball skills and instincts that cannot be taught. Gipson is still a very young player who hasn’t even reached his prime yet. The Browns must sign Gipson and secure him as their free safety for the foreseeable future.

B-. Throughout the season Gipson simply wasn’t in the position to make enough game changing plays on the football. The defensive scheme played a big role in the limitations of his usage this past season. Gipson has elite traits in his pass defense and teams will covet him in free agency.. S. Cleveland Browns.
