Cleveland Browns 2015 Roster Analysis: Defensive backs
Ibraheim Campbell
Age: 23
Experience: 1 year
Contract status: Free agent 2019
Ibraheim Campbell, a fourth-round draft choice out of Northwestern, has a similar style of play to Donte Whitner as Campbell is a physical safety that plays in the box to stop the run. Campbell was considered one of the top-run stopping safeties in the 2015 draft class and has promise as a good value pick for the Browns.
Despite injuries in the secondary, Campbell didn’t play as much would be expected from a fourth-round selection. Campbell served mostly on special teams, but when he got his opportunities he showed promise that he may be able to blossom into a solid safety.
One of his best appearances came during a Thursday night game against the Cincinnati Bengals where Campbell made a handful of tackles and held his own in his first time of extended action.
2016 Outlook:
Campbell should receive a significantly larger role in 2016 as he continues to develop into the NFL. With Whitner aging and the impending free agent status of Tashuan Gipson, Campbell will be poised for a large role in the Browns defense.
