It is pretty obvious that the Browns have needed to find their franchise quarterback since returning to the league since 1999 and, after 16 years of trying, they still don’t have one. It isn’t clear-cut that the Browns will take a quarterback at No. 2, especially keeping in mind the Browns are now taking an analytical approach to building the team, meaning that defensive players like Myles Jack, Jalen Ramsey or Joey Bosa are possibilities in the first round.

Michigan State quarterback Connor Cook passed for nearly 6,000 yards and 46 touchdowns in his sophomore and junior seasons as a Spartan. Cook also earned second team All-Big Ten honors in both of those seasons as well. In 2015, Cook received the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award and Big Ten Quarterback of the Year Award after throwing for 3,131 yards and 24 touchdowns.

Last season, a few Browns scouts visited Connor Cook’s high school, Walsh Jesuit, to talk to his high school football coaches, meaning that he’s been on the team’s radar for a while. The Browns also reportedly met with Cook for more than two hours after his recent Pro Day. Despite a few leadership questions, Cook at 32 isn’t such a terrible idea, especially if he can bring a winning attitude to the team.
